Dear Ms. Van Antwerp,
Thank you for taking the time to talk to me about your career as the chief clerk for Judge Donnelly in the Circuit Court. Your career was pretty cool. I got my final grade for the quarter and the paper was 50% of the grade. I got an A! My teacher didn’t know you lived around the corner from the school, and she wants you to come speak to her class next year. (I’m sorry, I told her you hate public speaking.) I wanted you to know how much I liked interviewing you, and even enjoyed writing the paper. (It ended up being eleven pages! I copied it for you…I hope you like it and hopefully I didn’t get anything wrong.) My dad’s mom died when I was four and my mom’s mom died about two years ago with Alzheimer’s disease, but you reminded me a little bit of her. Actually your juice glasses are the same ones she had. My mom said they were very cool in the 70s/80s. Now that kind of stuff is vintage, and cool again.
I loved seeing all your letters. How many letters do you think you’ve written during your life? When did you start? How do you decide who to write to? I don’t think I have ever received a real letter. I wouldn’t even know how to write a good one. How do you start and what do you say? I wanted to ask you if you have time, maybe you would write me a letter? Totally OK if you’re too busy, but I promise if you write to me I will write you back.
