Postscript: Seems to be an individual with an old grudge related to my former work coming back to have it out with me. Writing me notes, just a bit creepy, you know. I’ll take precautions, so not to worry.

Dear Mr. Lübeck,

Thank you for the roses on my birthday. I don’t know how it is that you know my birthday, and I certainly don’t know yours. It seems it’s time I ask, as this is becoming embarrassing.

Warm regards,

Sybil Van Antwerp

Dear Ms. Van Antwerp,

I was pleased to meet your friend Millie Wednesday last when she was arriving at your house for a dinner party. I know your birthday is May 29 because years ago your son Bruce arrived carrying a big bunch of sunflowers and a cake. The date holds meaning for me as well, so it’s been automatic to remember. I have very few people with whom to share my roses, but if you’d rather not receive them, please tell me, and I won’t send any more.

Please do feel free to address me as Theodore, in writing as well as when we see each other on the road. There’s no need for me to share my birthday as I would hate for you to have a sense of obligation to send me roses. I have plenty.

Please let me know if there is anything at all you need.

Theodore Lübeck

Syb: I’m coming for a week. Landing in Baltimore on July 1 at 3p.m. Coming from France. Stewart isn’t coming because he has things going on, engagements with people and his cooking courses, but I’m coming because you are scaring me with your miserable crotchetiness. We will spruce things up at the house, go shopping for clothes, talk about the man courting you, and this whole Kindred issue in person. Would love to see Bruce + schedule dinner with Trudy&Millie, too. Please someplace waterside with good crabcakes, maybe the Back Porch Café in Eastport. XX—Felix

SUBJECT: PROBLEMS (Attn: Basam)

Hello Basam,You were very helpful on the phone. Typically speaking with customer service agents somewhere over in India is EXCRUCIATING. You answered all the questions I had and now I have follow-up questions.

What happens to my DNA after you run it? Is it returned to me or do you dispose of it? I assume it won’t be kept, but I’d like assurance.

How can I be certain, if I don’t check the box for allowing other users to connect to me, that you won’t override my choice and share it anyway?
