“How did I do?”He asked.

“Quite well, actually, I think you've been reading up on the job or maybe even watching some films. Most people with no experience don't do as good a job as you did.”

“Thank you.I guess I would get the job if I applied for it.”

“You've got the job without applying for it since you are the boss.In my point of view, there is nothing more important than knowing the job of each employee when you own a business.”Cally offered.

“I agree with you, and that is why I intend to keep my skills honed for each of these jobs. The online part is also something that I need to learn. Is that something you can teach me as well?”

“It is, and I think that your online skills might be better than you think. After we finish this week working in the field, we'll see how well you do online.”

“I would say I can't wait, but I do worry about my computer skills. They are not what I need them to be, and I hesitate to take courses in them. This will probably help me do better not only for the job we are discussing but also for my office work.”He admitted.

“All things in due time. This week: fieldwork; next week: online skills.I believe when we are done with all the training, you will be as good as any of your employees.Just be glad you don't have to do the accounting.”

“Is that a challenge because accounting is part of the business?”

“No, the accounting that you must do for your business is straightforward.I helped my cousin Nat with some accounting for a business that had been targeted by thieves, and that was difficult.I've always had the utmost respect for her, but after that, I saw how amazing she truly was.”

“I've heard of her, and it's all been good. She's a forensic accountant, isn't she?”

“She is, and the best one you can possibly get.Nat goes into some of these packs that have been ravaged by thieves and tracks large amounts of the money so they can be returned where they belong.”Cally observed.

“It's amazing that much that's taken and you assume has been spent can be recovered.”

“That's true. But sometimes the things that the money has been spent on are property that can be recovered.”

“I heard the council had an auto auction once, and crooked councilmen were messing up the bids so they could get items for next to nothing,” Carlos mentioned.

“I heard that as well. They had a few fair bids to begin with, before the bids were messed with. After that, they had to follow the usual route of publicizing and taking bids individually, in person. They finally managed to sell them all, but it was a lot more work than it should have been. Many of those councilmen are no longer there, which is good for everyone.”

“The work that Damon does is amazing. He has asked me to come and work with some of the wardens for a brief.I am considering doing it, but I have been delayed with other needs.”

“I hope you're not saying that I have interfered because the wardens need all the help they can get,” Cally said.

“Not just you, but also the new business that is being started right now.I have offered to send some of my new people in to be trained, and Damon said that even unskilled people can help.”

“Perhaps after our personal relationship is resolved, we could both go and work for a week or two with the wardens. It's something I have done before, and while some of the things that I've seen are unpleasant, the work is necessary.”

“That’s the best offer I’ve had in a while.”He declared.

“You must not get many good offers.”

“You and me in a hotel room for at least a week? You’re underselling your appeal.”He observed.

“Not at all.You don’t realize how hard the job will be.Some regular wardens will be given time off, and we’ll be thrown into the soup.”

“That doesn’t sound as good.I thought we would just be helping catch up on a few cases.”

“Some of the wardens in this area haven’t had a vacation day in a few years,” Cally explained.

“I was sure Cage had a vacation last year.Is Damon playing favorites?”

“Not at all.Cage worked without a day off to push forward the work on the blood drugs, and his mate did too.Other wardens refused to give up their two days off a week, no matter how bad things got.”

“Couldn’t he force them to work?”He asked.

“Of course, but he decided not to do that.It does affect their ability to get promoted and the bonuses they receive. They know that, but they don’t care.”
