And that's what's happening now. I’ve sent Chris to go get Nova for questioning.
“Get your hands off me!” I hear a woman outside of the interrogation room scream a moment before the door flies open and Chris heaves a tiny pixie of a girl into the room.
“What the hell is going on?”
She swings her furious glare over to me. Her blue eyes nearly suck the air out of my lungs, despite the murderous look shining back at me.What did Chris do? And what the fuck is all over him?
“And what the hell is all over you?” I ask a very pissed off Chris.
“This crazy woman popped a confetti popper in my face before spraying me with silly string,” He grunts, shoving her a little too roughly into the chair in front of me.
I’m pissed off about the way he’s manhandling her. There’s no need for the aggression. But the anger slips away, replaced with amusement when I notice the way she’s looking at me.
Is she checking me out?
When her eyes meet mine, I can't help but give her a little smirk. Her brows furrow into a scowl before looking back up at Chris. “I should have stabbed you with the fairy princess wand,” she growls. “Right in the fucking eye.”
My brows shoot up. Damn, she’s a feisty one, isn’t she?
I’m not surprised, her file says as much.
“You do realize you're threatening an officer?” Chris growls, getting in her face. The closeness makes me uneasy. I don’t like the way he’s looking at her. “Now, behave before I arrest you.”
Unless she has any involvement with the robberies, she won’t be arrested. I’m not here for her, just her pack.
“I got it from here,” I tell Chris with an overwhelming need to get him away from Nova. “Thank you.”
“You owe me,” he growls. “Big time.”
I nod, grinding my teeth together. Chris is a friend, but there’s no way I’m going to let him get away with how he washandling her. And what was he talking about confetti and silly string? He was supposed to ask her to come in for questioning. I said get her in at any cost, but I didn’t mean kidnap the damn girl!
“So,” she leans back in the seat, blue eyes staring at me. “What am I in here for? I haven’t done anything wrong.” She leans forward. “If my old boss is behind this, I wasn’t the one who set fire to his garage. That was his crazy bitch of a wife.”
I smile, shaking my head. I do remember reading about that, but no charges were pressed. “No. It’s not about that at all. You’re not in any trouble, Nova. I just want to ask you some questions.”
“Questions about what?” she asks, lifting a brow.
“First, let me introduce myself. I’m Detective Tucker Davis,” I say, leaning back in my chair and crossing my arms, trying to ignore the smug pride that fills me as her eyes roam over the tattoos on my arms. “And I’d like to ask you a couple of questions... about your Alphas.”
Her eyes snap up and I curse. Fuck. I shouldn’t have outright said that. I was supposed to start with letting her know her mother put out a damn missing persons report. Damn it.
“What about my Alphas?” There is a sharpness to her voice.Damn it, Tucker.
I clear my throat. “Let’s circle back to that in a moment. The main reason I needed you to come in today was because there is a missing persons report out on you.”
“There is?” She looks at me confused. “Why? I’m not missing.” She gestures to herself. “Suprise, I’m right here.”
I can’t help but snort. She’s cute. And funny. Fuck.
“Yes, I can see that.” I chuckle. “But it seems your mother was led to believe you were missing.”
“My mother?” she sighs heavily. “Of course she’s doing something like this.”
“Might I ask why?”
“I’m not missing. I chose to leave. After I saw her gagging on my ex-boyfriend’s cock,” she mutters, leaning back in her seat.
My brows furrow. “What the fuck?”
