I mean, if I wanted it,andif they asked nicely. Nick never asks nicely.

So, in his case, it’s me who’s in control. Nick will hate it. But can he really resist me?

Scent match, hello. It’s like catnip or some shit.

With the way he treated me back at the cabin, I should hate him. I shouldn’t want anything to do with him.

But after my heat, it’s like something within him changed.

You act like you can’t stand me, but baby, I can see the tent in your pants and the lust in your eyes.

You know what they say, there’s a thin line between love and hate.

While the love part is way, way off in the future, I could lessen up on the hate a little. My annoying him, on the other hand, not so much.

I love pushing his buttons and fighting with him too much. It’s like our form of foreplay.

“Nova.” Nick’s low growl has my eyes snapping up to his.

“Huh?” I blink.

“Get your cat,” he growls before heading towards the front office.

Sighing, I make my way over to the van. “Duchess,” I call out. “Mama is here. Come on, sweetheart, let’s get you out of this van for a good night’s sleep.”

“I’ll help.” Will appears at my side. “Ian is taking your stuff into the room.”

“Thanks.” I smile up at him. “So, wanna tell me where we’re going?”

He chuckles. “To our house.”

“You keep saying that,” I grumble, grabbing all the supplies we got for the cat along with the travel litter box, before handing it to Will. “But where is this house you speak of? Nick is just being a dickhead at this point by not telling me.”

Will looks at me for a moment and sighs. “We have a house somewhere warm. Somewhere private with no neighbors nearby”

My eyes light. “I do like the idea of no one around.”

His lips twitch. “Coolest part, it’s right on the beach.”

“Oh fuck me, I think I just came in my pants,” I groan.

He chuckles, and I love the sound. “You’re an odd little one, aren’t you, Nova Brooks?”

That makes me pause. “Ahhh... how the fuck do you know my last name?”

I’ve never once told them.

“Oh, you sweet, sweet girl.” Will leans down and kisses the top of my head. I have no idea how to react right now. “When will you realize we’re a lot more powerful than you think? We know everything there is to know about you. Have since the moment we got an internet connection." He leans back with a blank look. “Also, that ex of yours?” He looks away, holding his hand out to Duchess, who makes a soft meow as she pads out of her hiding spot, making her way towards us. “He’s no longer an issue.”

What does that mean?

What did they do to him?

And why am I kind of turned on over the fact that they would even bother doing anything to my ex? He’s a cheating waste of space. He’s not worth the time or energy.

“You didn’t kill him, or anything, did you?” I narrow my eyes. Because as much as I hate the guy, I don’t want him dead.

Will raises a brow, casting me a glance. “We’ve been with you since the moment we met. When would we have had time to go out and kill him?”
