“No,” Nick growls back. “She’s not my fucking kid. Relax. But...” Nick looks at Ian. “I think she’s our sister.”

“What?” Ian shouts. “Sister?”

“Does it surprise you?” Will asks. “Our father wasn’t one to keep it in his fucking pants.”

“Who’s her mother?” Ian asks.

“Julia,” Nick growls.

“Well, fuck me.” Ian laughs. “That evil bitch finally got what she wanted.”

“Who’s Julia?” I ask.

“She’s our stepmother. We hate her with a passion, and that bitch hated us, too. She only saw us as the bastard children of thewomen who her husband cheated on her with. He may as well been out knocking up anything that moved while he denied her a child of her own.”

“But why?”

“Who fucking knows. He never liked her, never loved or respected her. Not that she deserved it. She’s a wretch of a woman.”

“She sounds lovely,” I say, deadpan.

“Yeah, as lovely as syphilis,” Will comments.

“So we have a sister,” Ian says softly. “I wanna meet her.”

“Kane will be here tomorrow. We have to head back over there, then you can come along.”

“I want to come too.”

“No,” Nick growls.

“Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t ask for your permission.” I raise a brow.

“It’s not a place for you.” Nick steps forward.

“Why?” I ask. “Because it’s filled with bad, bad men? Thought they all died?”

“Not all of them,” Nick grinds out. “We don’t trust anyone there.”

“Guess it’s a good thing you all would kill anyone who tries to hurt me. So, I don’t see there being any issues.” I shrug. “Plus, I want to see these kids for myself.” I turn to Ian. “Do you think we could go shopping tomorrow before we go over there and get some things for them?”

Ian looks down at me with admiration in his eyes. “I think that’s a wonderful idea, Little Doe.” He kisses me on the tip of my nose.

“You’re not going,” Nick grunts.

“Sorry, what?” I ask him. “Can’t hear you.”

“Nova!”

“Lalalala!” I shout as I make my way towards the stairs to check on Duchess and Petunia.

“She’s going to drive me fucking mental.” I hear Nick snarl behind me, making me grin.

Yup. And I’m going to have one hell of a time doing it, too.
