Together we madethe choice to sleep in my bed since it wasn’t drenched in sex and because Dandy would have been lonely if I hadn’t returned.

Mal grabbed whatever she’d need and threw it into a bag. If she forgot anything, she didn’t have to go far to get it.

Dandy was grumpy when I walked through the door after being so cruel as to abandon her so I could have hot sex with my neighbor.

“My god, you’re such a drama queen,” I told her with affection as I made sure her food bowl wasn’t empty and checked her water.

Mal sighed and flopped down on my couch.

“You ready for bed?” I asked her.

She tilted her face and nodded at me, her hand covering a yawn. It was so, so late and I should have been more tired, but I was still buzzing a little from the fucking.

“Come on, baby,” I said, surprising myself with that word, but it came out easily. Too easily.

Mal smiled at me and held out her hands. I pulled her to her feet and then towed her toward the bedroom.

She’d already brushed her teeth, so I sat her on the bed and went to the bathroom to brush mine.

When I came back, I found her sprawled on the bed with Dandy on her chest.

“Be careful she doesn’t try to make biscuits with your boobs. It doesn’t feel nice.”

“Noted,” Mal said.

I stripped out of my clothes and put my pajamas on before getting into bed next to her. She’d just so happened to lay on the side I didn’t really use. Sometimes I would migrate to the middle of the bed, but most nights I was happy with the right side.

Dandy abandoned Mal and then made her home at the end of the bed where she usually slept.

“Wow, I see how it is,” I said, trying not to feel offended. “I think she likes you better than she likes me now.”

Mal turned on her side. “Can you blame her?”

She’d kept her hair in the braid, but she’d redone it to be looser.

“Not really,” I said, also turning on my side so I could see her.

Mal breathed out and scooted closer, entwining her legs with mine.

“Do you snore?” I asked her.

“Only a little bit, I’ve been told. What about you?”

I made my face serious. “Yes, I’m afraid I’ve been compared to a chainsaw. Hope that’s okay.”

Her face fell a little, but she tried to cover.

I grinned. “I’m just screwing with you. I do a little bit as well, but my ex said it was cute.” Shit. I had to stop bringing up Alina.

Mal asked me when we’d broken up, so I guess I’d opened that door.

Even though our voices were weak, and our eyes kept closing, we talked and talked. We couldn’t seem to stop.

It wasn’t until I was opening my eyes and finding someone pressed into my back with an arm draped over my belly that I remembered what had happened.

Due to the late night, it was now late morning and I probably could have slept for another few hours, but I was also starving, and I knew Dandy was going to be begging in a minute.

Slowly turning over I found that Mal was just waking up herself. Her fingers fluttered over my skin.
