Lea brushed out my hair and put on pajamas that had little carton sushi rolls on them. My pajamas weren’t as cute.
She glared at me in the mirror when I grabbed her ass as she brushed her teeth.
“Hey,” she said through the foam of the toothpaste.
“Couldn’t help myself,” I said, grabbing my brush and stealing her toothpaste.
Lea bumped me with her hip, and I did the same in return as we laughed and tried not to spray toothpaste everywhere as we finished up.
We also let the kittens out and they were very vocal about how we’d abandoned them.
“Come here,” Lea said, lifting them both onto the bed. They scampered around and pounced on our feet and climbed all over us.
“I hope you’re okay with waking up with a kitten sleeping on your head. That happens to me a lot,” I told her.
She scooted under the blankets and turned on her side to face me. “I hope it happens. I’d like to have a little kitten hat.”
It wouldn’t be as nice as she was imagining, but she’d find out. I stared at her and wondered how we’d gotten to this place together.
My former stepsister was in my bed with me after some mind-blowing sex.
Lea poked my face right between my eyebrows. “What are you thinking about so hard, V?”
Fuck, I loved it when she called me that.
“Nothing,” I told her. It didn’t matter.
So much had happened today, and I was so very tired. After everything, I wanted to sleep. Wanted to rest for a while.
Lea puckered her lips for a kiss, and I gave it to her. As if we did this every night. As if all of this was our regular life.
We settled in together with the kittens curled up between us. I guess they’d decided it was bedtime for them too. At least for a little while.
I tucked Lea into my side, and she rested her head on my chest, letting out a little contented sound that I wished I could bottle up and save for a bad day.
Lea kept talking about this and that, nothing serious until her voice started to deepen and slow and I heard the sleep in her voice. Her breathing evened out and I knew she was asleep.
I stayed up for a while, but eventually, I joined her in dreamland.

I was so usedto the kittens waking me up with their shenanigans, that I fell right back to sleep, but Lea jerked awake and I reached over to soothe her.
“It’s just the kittens.”
She let out a sleepy sound and I waited for her to relax again, pulling her close.

The kittens were veryserious about their mealtimes, so the next thing I knew, twin meows accompanied by bats at my face were pulling me out of sleep.
“Okay,” I said, my voice croaking. Another thing kittens didn’t understand was the concept of weekends. I’d sort of been a morning person before I got them, but they’d made it so that I could never stay in bed after seven.
Glancing over, I saw that Lea was absolutely passed out beside me on her stomach, her face smashed into the pillow and her hair everywhere. She was so cute it made my chest hurt.
Carefully, I got out of bed and followed the kittens downstairs to get their breakfast and start some coffee. I had a feeling Lea was going to stay in bed for a while longer, so I got the idea to make breakfast in bed.
It was something I’d only seen in movies or heard about, but I wanted to do that for her.
