Missy, of course, had dressed herself in an expensive outfit and looked gorgeous. Her hair was down, her makeup was minimal but flattering and she was wearing some nice jewelry. When she was escorted into the large conference room for her interview, all those around her were very impressed. Yes, this would be aninterviewand not an interrogation. Aleksandr was allowed to sit next to her while her bodyguards remained outside nearby.
Two men introduced themselves as investigators working in the Moscow Police Department who had been assigned to Yury’s case. They explained how they had been in touch with the police in Beijing who had shared with them all that was known concerning this terrible assassination.
While Missy was already familiar with most of those things, Aleksandr was not and he asked several questions. Since he was there representing Yury’s business associates as well as his widow Natalya, the police were very willing to cooperate and discuss things freely. So far, of course, there was no evidenceto suggest that anyone in Russia might have been behind what happened.
As the back-and-forth questions and discussion continued, it was obvious to Missy that the police were quite willing to blame this on the Chinese and did not want Russia to be blamed or involved. No, these men were going through the motions and were only talking to her so they could claim they were being thorough. However, the “unknown” Chinese conspirators would ultimately be blamed and the case would be closed accordingly.
Once the “interview” was finally over and the police agreed that Missy was free to go, they thanked her for her wonderful cooperation and again expressed their deepest sympathies. As she slowly made her way back outside, with her bodyguards rejoining her, it was obvious that word had spread about her being there. The station was surrounded by hundreds of people, many carrying signs proclaiming Missy to be their hero. When she was sighted, surrounded by her bodyguards with Aleksandr at her side, there were loud cheers while Missy and her entourage made their way to the vehicles parked there waiting for them.
Missy allowed the anxious paparazzi to get plenty of photos of her as she waved at the crowd with a huge smile. This crowd was unexpected but the news media had been publishing stories about her and Yury, showing photos of the two of them during moments when they had been at earlier events or even at nightclubs. These had then been contrasted with photos obtained showing the three burning vehicles on that bridge in Beijing. There were also some photos of Missy being dragged away from those flames as well. Overnight, she had gone from being a celebrity mistress to a heroic victim. She was a miraclesurvivor and these stories about her had indeed captured the nation’s attention.
Once inside the limo with Alek, Missy said, “I am extremely grateful for the way you and these bodyguards are helping me. Were you anticipating all these people might be here for me like this?” The vehicles all gradually pulled away from the police station and the crowds and headed back towards her place.
Alek smiled and said, “Oh, yes! News about you is the only bright spot in this whole tragic affair. Everyone loves to cheer for someone who defeats death as you have done and who looks so beautiful besides. I’ve been asked to continue your bodyguard detail for a while yet. While there no longer seems to be any threat on your life, there is now the concern that you be protected from possible harm because of how famous this tragedy has made you. Yury’s business associates are determined that nothing relating to all of this be cause for any further distress.”
Missy nodded in understanding. Right. Avoiding any possiblelawsuitwas no doubt the real reason for their concern. She said, “While I do appreciate that, I value my privacy and must insist on that always being respected.” She paused and then added, “If it would please those business associates, I would be happy to sign whatever documents would satisfy them … you know … to use their words …relating to all of this.” She used her fingers to put quotation marks around that.
Alek was impressed at how quickly she was grasping the true motives behind her protection and he smiled. “I will let them know, Missy. I doubt it will come to anything like that, of course.” He could see their limo was now approaching herapartment and he added, “I have been asked to invite you to come to a meeting in Yury’s office building tomorrow morning.”
“What will the meeting be about and why is my presence there being requested?” asked Missy.
“Ahh, there will be some decisions made which may affect you, Missy. First, there will be the reading of Yury’s will. You are not needed for that since, according to his law firm, you are not mentioned. However, once ownership of his businesses and assets has been defined, certainarrangementswhich Yury had made might now be changed.” It was obvious that Alek was uncomfortable with explaining this.
Missy knew some of thearrangementswhich might be changed were things like Yury’s payment for her apartment and expenses along with that monthly deposit of three hundred thousand euros into her Cyprus account. With a wry grin, she said, “Very well, then. I will be happy to oblige this request. Can I count on you to have someone escort me there?”
Alek chuckled and said, “I will be happy to do that personally. And, thank you for agreeing to this. I’m told there will be a nice luncheon for everyone while we are there.”
Now Missy chuckled and said, “I’m guessing my future status as akeptwomanis a delicate matter for you and Yury’s associates to deal with. Don’t worry! I am confident things will go well tomorrow. Things may change for me but I must hope thetransitionfor various arrangements will be acceptable. We shall see!”
Their limo had stopped and when Missy nodded at the man waiting outside for her signal, he opened the car door for her and stepped back as she climbed out. She turned to glanceinside at Alek and said, “I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow!”
Then she made her way inside, pausing briefly to greet more paparazzi. Then she and two bodyguards took the elevator up to her apartment’s floor. She left them in the hallway after unlocking her door and going inside. Then she closed her door and breathed a sigh of relief. Things were moving along nicely enough. Hopefully, after tomorrow’s meeting, she might be free to disappear for a while.

When Missy entered Yury’s office building, again with Alek and several bodyguards surrounding her, she was dressed in a dark green dress which she had chosen because it not only exposed her deep cleavage and showed off her curves but also because the color matched her eyes. This appearance was further enhanced by her light green eyeshadow combined with her eyeliner and mascara.
Her sultry look was also helped by her dark red lipstick and the sophisticated hairstyle she was wearing. All her bandages were gone and there were no traces of any injuries. Yeah, she was once again at her voluptuous and glamorous best and was ready to face everyone. She had become Yury’s celebrity mistress and she was very proud of that. She was prepared to deal with whatever consequences she must now face.
She was familiar with the offices in this building since she had spent time teleporting through them all in her spirit form on more than one occasion. She was brought to a small privatemeeting room right next to Yury’s office. Further down the hall there was a much larger conference room which was filled with people who had come for the reading of Yury’s will.
Missy knew NikolaiVassiliev was Yury’s lawyer and was not surprised to sense his presence in there. She took a seat in one of the comfortable chairs and watched as Alek also sat down in a nearby chair. The bodyguards remained out in the hallway so it was just the two of them. She used her senses to search for possible surveillance devices but thankfully, there were none.
Alek said, “They should be finishing up in there very soon.” Glancing again at his cell phone a moment later, he looked up and said, “Well, this is a surprise. I never anticipated Natalya would wish to meet with you. Yury’s wife is asking if she can see you, Missy. She wants to say a few words before anyone else meets with you today.”
Missy knew who Natalya was, of course. She said, “Although we have never met, I am okay with hearing whatever it is she wishes to tell me.”
Ten minutes later, Natalya entered the room and stood just inside the doorway. She was a handsome woman in her late thirties and carried herself proudly. When both Missy and Alek stood to greet her, she said, “Please don’t stand on my account and introductions are not necessary.I know Aleksandr Novikoff and I also know who you are, Missy Kabachnik.”
Alek stepped towards Natalya as though to escort her inside further but she quickly announced, “I would prefer to be alone with Missy, if that’s all right.” She raised her eyebrows and waited for Alek to respond.
Alek looked back at Missy and said, “If Miss Kabachnik agrees, I can leave you two …” He seemed uncertain whether or not to say anything more.
Missy smiled and said, “Of course I agree. Please leave us and close the door so we can have total privacy.” She was sensing this was what Natalya wanted and she gestured for her to come and sit where Alek had been sitting.
After waiting until Alek left the room and closed the door, Natalya then came over and extended her hand saying, “We meet at last. I deeply regret the circumstances as I’m sure you do as well.” After they shook hands, she sat down and watched as Missy did likewise.
