“Sounds like a psychopath inlurveeeeeee,” Her laughter escapes from her mouth, and it’s contagious.

I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, but for now, I’m just thankful for our friendship.

Chapter Fifteen

Julius

The first-class lounge is quiet this morning, just a few team members are here so far, and they look sleepy as fuck. Vonn is at the counter, grabbing some coffee; meanwhile, my phone is burning a hole in my pocket. Glancing around, I slide into a chair along the wall and slip it out. Now that I’ve broken the seal on talking to my firebrand, it’s become an all-consuming obsession.

Me

Good Morning… Nixie Alton.

Take that, little mate. You thought you could deny me something as basic as your name.

Three bubbles appear and then disappear on my screen, and I watch for them to start again eagerly. Our fiery omega wants to be a challenge, but what she doesn’t realize is her reluctance only makes me want her more.

Nixie

Creep much? I told you to leave me alone. GO AWAY.

Me

No. You told me to lose your number. I tried… but then it just came back to me. And you know what they say about that?

Nixie

That they aren’t interested?

Me

Silly Nixie. No. That if you find something a second time, it’s meant to be yours.

I mean, obviously, we’re meant to be. Her raspberry and poppy scent calls to my dickandmy soul, not to mention my inner Alpha. That fucker wants to find her and keep her handcuffed to me for eternity. My teeth ache to sink into her flesh.

Where will I put my bite? Hummmm, decisions, decisions.

Down boy.

Nixie

It just means you’re a pig-headed Alpha jerk who never lost my number in the first place.

Me

But what about the times I’ve found you? First the diner, then the ice rink. And of course, wherever we plan to meet up when I fly back into Nashville this afternoon.

Nixie

I AM NOT MEETING UP WITH YOU.

Me

Bring our son. I want to take him to my guy to get measured for custom pads, skates, and a helmet.
