Parker scoffs and rolls her eyes. “Suuure.”
“Aw, come on, pretty girl. You know that you’re the only girl I ever see,” Linc continues, trying to get himself out of the hole he’s dug. He crowds her before ducking low and saying something only for her ears.
“Come on,” Cole says. “I want to dance with my girl.”
Tingles rush through me at being called that. I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to it.
I follow behind him and happily step into his body just a few feet away from where Rett is dry-humping a bunny.
Parker might be right; he is a bit of a manwhore, but as far as I know, he’s safe, and he’s enjoying himself. At least he’s open and honest about the way he lives his life.
Thoughts of what those around me are doing are quickly wiped away when Cole pinches my chin between his forefinger and thumb and tips my head back so he can look into my eyes.
His pupils are dark and hungry, and as I move against him, I understand why.
“Have I told you how much I loved having you watching me tonight?” he rasps.
“Once or twice,” I tease.
“What about how much I loved announcing that you’re my girl on live television?”
I pretend to think for a moment. “Umm…not sure you’ve mentioned it,” I tease. Truth is, he’s already told me more times than I can count.
We’ve also been informed by Hailee that the internet is flooded with congratulations. Is there a little part of me that’s smug because Rowan’s album dropped today, and now everyone is talking about us? Maybe. Just a teeny-weenie part. Mostly though, I’m just happy. Really damn happy.
“Well, just in case there is any confusion. I fucking loved it.”
A smile spreads across my lips, but it’s cut short when Cole ducks down to kiss me.
Instantly, I forget where I am, and I claw at his back, desperate to get closer, to celebrate his success just the two of us with nothing between us.
One song melds into another as our kiss continues, my body burning up from the inside out with need.
“We need to get out of here before we give the internet something to really talk about,” Cole rasps in my ear.
I giggle, my cheeks heating. “Okay,” I say, taking his hand and allowing him to lead me away.
As we make our way off the dance floor, I notice that Rett has gone, and predictably, so has the girl he was dancing with.
Kodie notices our departure from the other side of the bar and gives a little salute to Cole. The moment Casey spots us, she grins and smiles before mouthing for me to call her in the morning.
“Take the back exit,” Hailee tells us as we head toward the stairs to leave. “Door at the back. It’ll lead you down some stairs and right to the street. You can’t miss it.”
With my hand locked in Cole’s, we spin around and follow her instructions, more than happy not to get mobbed by fans as we attempt to get an Uber home.
As soon as the heavy door closes behind us, the thudding beat of the music lessens. My ears ring as we follow the emergency exit signs.
We’ve barely taken a few steps when a moan hits my ears. Without thinking, I turn around.
“Oh my god,” I gasp when I find Rett with the woman pinned against the wall, her dress hitched up around her waist and his pants around his ankles.
She is clueless, lost in the moment, but Rett hears us, and the second his eyes lock on mine, he smirks.
“Come on, we’ve got our own fun to have,” Cole says, dragging my attention back to him. “Enjoy the rest of your night, Donnelly,” he calls before we disappear, leaving them to do their thing.
The moment we emerge on the street, Cole takes Rett’s lead and backs me up against the wall.
“What I wouldn’t give to be inside you right now,” he groans in my ear.
