“How could… How is it even better than… Fuck, Olivia, I’m about to…” His hand tightened in my hair as I dug my nails into his ass, holding him in place until he spilled down my throat.

I dropped a kiss to his thigh and fell against him. I was a satisfied and blissful kind of spent but lifted myself to stand despite the temptation to lie back on the floor and sleep.

“Come here,” he whispered and gathered me into his arms. “Please tell me I didn’t push you.”

“Are you kidding? Tyler, I think you have scratches on your ass.” I peeked over his hip. “I wanted it all as much as you did.”

He exhaled, his shoulders relaxing as he cradled my face. “I can’t stay much longer. I want to, but Saturday is our busy morning, why we close early on Fridays. I don’t want you to think—”

“I don’t.” I pressed a finger to his lips. “I promise. Give me a minute to change. We can hang out on my couch for a little while until you have to go. Never too soon to talk baby names, I guess.” I kissed his chin. “Okay?”

His mouth spread into a slow smile. “Okay, sugar.”

I rolled my eyes, pretending the silly pet name didn’t send goose bumps down my neck. “Let me get out of this dress, and I’ll be right back.”

“Hey, I said I’d help you.” He grabbed my arm, pulling my back flush to his front. “Side or back?”

“Back,” I said, sweeping my hair off my neck.

The whir of the zipper in the silence shouldn’t have turned me on again so soon. He pressed a kiss to the small of my back and trailed a few more up to my shoulder.

“So gorgeous,” he whispered into my hair. “So unfairly fucking gorgeous.”

I grinned as I rushed back to my bedroom, peeling off the dress before stepping out of it.

“Bye, old friend.” I sighed and hung it back in my closet. I had a while until maternity clothes would be a necessity, but I was already done with skin-tight leather for a long time.

A breath of relief whooshed out of my lungs when I unhooked my bra and slipped on my silk robe, my boobs even more swollen and sore. I wasn’t leaving much to the imagination, but Tyler wasn’t leaving right that second. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t try to poke at his resolve, although this way at least he’d enjoy it too.

I came into the living room, cracking up when Tyler gave me a double take.

“You’re nevernotgoing to make me crazy, are you?”

He laughed at my slow shrug as I cuddled next to him.

I’d forgotten about my seduction mission as I started to nod off on his chest, his scent bringing back memories of the best night of my life, the one I couldn’t acknowledge until now. A knock at my door jolted me up right as I was about to drift off.

Worried enough to forget I was half-naked, I raced to my door and opened it. “Mom, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I didn’t mean to wake you. They’re cleaning the curbs in the morning, and you have to move your car behind mine in the driveway. I forgot to remind you—”

She stopped, bunching up the collar of her robe as her gaze drifted over my shoulder.

“Tyler, this is a surprise,” she said, cutting me a look.

“Hi, Carla. I imagine it is.” He coughed out a nervous laugh. “I didn’t realize what time it was. Give me your keys, and I’ll move your car before I go.” He held out his hand.

“Oh, right.” I reached over to grab them from the hook. “Thank you.”

“No problem. I’ll be right back. Um, good night, Carla, if I don’t see you when I come back in.”

“You won’t. Good night, Tyler.”

My gaze followed Tyler out the front door as I ignored my mother for as long as possible.

“So, um, yeah,” I stammered as Tyler did a second ago. Getting caught with a guy in your thirties didn’t feel all that different than when I was in my teens, although my mother wasn’t looking me over and stifling a laugh back then. “I guess it is a surprise.”

“A surprise thirty years in the making, sweetheart. Get some sleep after Tyler leaves—you look exhausted.” She turned, her shoulders shaking, and headed back upstairs.
