“Smells a lot better than I remember.” Spencer chuckles from the other side of the room. “Hey, Jen, take two steps to your left.”

“Why?” The goofy smile on his face automatically gets reflected on my own. That’s how we are. When one of us feels something, the other picks up on it right away.

“Just trust me.”

Since I would trust this man with my life, I do as he says and take two steps to the left.

“Yup, that is exactly where you were when I realized I’d just seen the woman I would love for the rest of my life. Only you were sitting on the floor with your nose buried in a book.” Spencer slowly walks toward me, skirting the outside of the room. “I felt like I was walking through molasses, trying to avoid all the flailing limbs.” We both laugh at that. “But I knew I had to talk to you. Had to get you out of that place.”

When he reaches me, he cups the back of my neck, drawing me closer. My whole body is on fire, just as it is every time my man touches me. The lust we have for each other hasn’t dimmed one iota since the first night.

“If I had been a braver man, I would have kissed you that very first second. But I was terrified. I’d never approached a girl before that night.” His thumb brushes across my cheek, and I whimper a little, needing to be under him.

“I’m glad you didn’t. I probably would have thought you were trying to draw me into the other festivities around us.” I kiss the pad of his thumb when it brushes over my lips. “I’m glad that night happened like it did. Every moment. I’m glad I had that awful date. That he brought me here. That you were a nervous wreck. That we got to talk a little before we ever kissed. That our first kiss was caught on video, and the world saw the first moment you claimed me as yours. Every bit of our lives together, the good and the bad, I’m happy it all happened.”

“Me too, baby.” Spencer leans into me, pressing me against the wall and pulling my hips toward his. “So, what do you say? Should we give this building one more show before giving it a new life?”

“I do have a blanket in the car, and I am kind of curious about all those mirrors on the ceiling.” I glance up at the mirrors, then back down at Spencer. “No kids. No one to hear us.”

“I’ll get the blanket. You get naked.”

“Deal.”
