“What would you like for lunch?”
I lean back and stare up at him, running a hand down the front of his chest.
“What’s on the menu?” I say, biting my lip and raising an eyebrow.
He grins, his eyes sparkling.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Oh, much,” I tell him honestly. “Maybe not up for a full-blown run yet, but I’m sure we can think of some other form of exercise.”
Jax chuckles, although it turns into a deep inhale as my hand travels south, cupping his rapidly hardening cock through his jeans. Not the only one who’s missed this.
He bends his elbows and drops a kiss on my forehead.
“Food first,” he says.
“Party pooper,” I say, just as my stomach lets out an embarrassing grumble.
“Don’t want you passing out on me from lack of food. Your brothers would never forgive me. I’ve promised to look after you.”
“Depends on what we’re doing when I pass out? Certain games, I’m sure they’d rather not know about.” My brothers have sex with their partners, but I’m sure the thought of their sister and best friend… how delightful.
“Monopoly? Checkers? Cluedo?” Jax reels off.
I growl.
“It was Kat Frazer, in the living room with a box of romance books,” I say, smiling up at him sweetly.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he says, pushing back and standing up.
He holds out a hand.
I place mine in his, and he gently pulls me up.
“Let’s see what got delivered.”
We walk across the hallway hand-in-hand and enter another room. An open-plan kitchen. Once again, a wall of glass allows the outside in.
At one end sits another doorway. To the right, along the opposite wall from the window, is a wall of cabinets and high-end appliances, including a state-of-the-art coffee machine.
I walk over and run a finger over it, making Jax chuckle.
“Newly installed. I didn’t want you missing your coffee fix.”
“You’re spoiling me,” I say, my chest constricting, my core tingling.
Jax walks up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
“I want you to relax while you’re here.”
Turning in his arms, I rest my hands on his shoulders.
“I’m already relaxed,” I admit. “I didn’t think it was possible. All this peace and quiet, but being here with you…”
Jax pulls me tighter against him.
“It scared me, seeing you like that. I thought I’d found you again, only to lose you.”
