The guard backed away but pointed at Jax. “He told me to shut up. Who the fuck does he think he is? I ain’t gonna let no one disrespect me, especially not some omega who has you wrapped around his tiny little finger.” He shot a look at Jax that said he would happily wring his neck, but he didn’t focus on that. Jax was stuck on the man’s words.
“Get out!” Bo screamed. The man didn’t move. “I mean it. Get the fuck out of here and don’t ever come back.”
Jax was confused. Was Bo standing up for him? Not possible! He must be hallucinating. Had they slipped him something? The guard shook his head and then left the room. Jax looked up to Bo. He fought the urge to thank him. Why would he thank him? Bo had done everything to make his life hell. He swallowed back the words. It was the alpha’s fault he was even in danger in the first place.
Bo looked down at him.
“Don’t look so shocked,” Bo said. “You’re no good to me in anything but pristine condition. It wouldn’t get me what I desire otherwise, now would it?” He eyed Jax up and down. “I’m waiting for you to go in heat. It’ll happen soon, I’m sure.”
Jax swallowed. It wouldn’t. He was already pregnant. Bo moved in closer. He pressed his lips against Jax’s ear. “I know you’re excited to feel me again. Ain’t no one able to please an omega like me.”
Jax tensed. His insides clenched, and he stared straight ahead. Bo’s words made him want to gag.
Bo pulled back from him. He smiled and patted Jax’s thigh. “Don’t worry. I know what my omega needs.”
Jax wanted to scream,I’m not yours!but he pressed his lips tighter.
And watched as Bo straightened and left the room.
When he was alone, he put his hands on his belly. “Just hold on, little one. Your daddy is coming, and we’ll be reunited with your sister.”
It was only a matter of time before he would see Ryder’s face again. He just knew that Ryder was on his way to get him. His mate would come for him. Of that, Jax had no doubt.
The door opened again, and Jax froze. He never knew when Bo was going to come back for him, but he continued to hold out hope that it would be a while since he wasn’t in heat and couldn’t give Bo what he wanted. But it wasn’t Bo, it was another man.
“What’re you looking at?” the guard asked.
Jax bowed his head. He just needed to bide his time and not get himself in trouble until his family came. And that meant not provoking any of the men. “Nothing,” Jax whispered.
He didn’t have to see the man to feel the smirk as he replied, “Good answer.”
He sat down in the chair directly in front of Jax, and he started to mess with his phone. Jax tried not to move a muscle.Just be invisible.
Something caught his attention by the window, and Jax turned slowly, careful not to draw attention, and he saw a figure there. His eyes darted back and found the man still on his phone, so he turned back to the window and squinted.
He bit his lips so he didn’t cry out in relief because standing outside was Maddox. Maddox gave him a small wave before he disappeared.
Was Ryder here too? He looked over to the guard, who was now looking in his direction.
“What you looking at?”
“Nothing!” Jax shook his head and lowered it, then pulled his knee up to his chin and smiled.
The guard turned to look at the window. He got up and started to head to the window, and Jax froze. If Maddox was discovered out there, then it could mean trouble for both of them.
“Ow!” Jax cried out. He didn’t even think. He just knew he needed to get the guard away from the window.
“What now?” He spun around and glared at Jax.
“My head hurts. I feel ill.” Jax made a gagging sound. “I think I need to see a doctor.”
The guard snickered. “Ain’t no one here much care if you have a little headache. Buck up!”
“You don’t understand!” Jax made sure he sounded pitiful and subservient. “If something happens to me, Alpha Bo would be very displeased.” After meeting true alphas, calling Bo one made Jax want to wash his mouth to get rid of the bitter taste it left behind.
The guard continued to stare at him but then sighed and began dialing his phone. He waited a moment. “Bo, can you hear me?”
“Why are you bothering me?” Bo asked.
