Aiden reached out again, but Quinn quickly pulled back. “How can I believe anything you say? You’ve been lying to me this whole time,” he snapped.

“No, no, please. You have to believe me. None of this was a lie, Quinn. You’re everything to me.” Aiden’s eyes were wide and filled with pleading, but Quinn couldn’t even look at him. “I never expected you, and I was never going to—”

He shot Aiden a dark look, silencing the alpha. “What, you were never going to tell me, like that somehow makes it better?” Quinn spat. “You’re a liar, Aiden Cross, and we’re done.”

Quinn got to his feet, and Aiden did too.

“Please, Quinn, I know I’ve fucked up. I should have told you the minute we… the minute things changed for us.”

“You should have told me the second you walked into my office,” Quinn shot at him. “Suppose that explains you firing all my staff. You were just trying to get to me, weren’t you.”

The guilty look on Aiden’s face was all the answer he needed.

“We’re done. I never want to see you again, Mr. Cross.”

“Please, Quinn, I love you. We’re going to have a child together. We can raise all our children together.”

Quinn’s body shook with rage, and he stepped towards Aiden, poking him in the chest. “These aremychildren. Not yours, mine. That’s it, and you can stay the hell away from themandme.”

Quinn then turned on his heel. He could hear Aiden calling out to him, but he didn’t look back. The tears started to roll down his cheeks. He needed to get to Rafe’s and pick his children up, then figure out what he was going to do next. Aiden had ruined everything. He’d ruined them.

Quinn just hoped he could keep it together till he got out of Aiden’s home.

Aiden

Aiden picked up his phone for what seemed like the thousandth time. He dialed Quinn’s number, and yet again, it went straight to voicemail. After he listened to the message, which he could recite by heart at this point, it beeped.

“Quinn, I know you’re angry with me, and you have every right to be, but can we please just talk. It’s not the same without you here. I am so sorry, and I will spend the rest of my life showing you how much I love you, Quinn. I need you.Please.” He disconnected the call when he finished and sighed. He hadreallyfucked up.

It’d been a week since Aiden had heard from Quinn—since the father of his children had walked out of the house leaving a gaping hole in his life he’d never thought possible. Outside of a short email from the cleaning agency stating he was being removed from client list, he hadn’t heard anything. He just wanted to see Quinn, needed to talk to him and beg for forgiveness.

Of course he could have kept it to himself, but the thought of a life with Quinn and having what he’d done hanging over them was unacceptable to Aiden.

All the flowers and chocolates he’d sent had been returned. He’d even shown up at the office, but Carlos told him Quinn wasn’t in, even though his car was parked outside. Helen refused to let him past the door at the house and looked at him like she’d watched a video of him kicking a puppy.

There was a knock on his door, and Aiden jumped up from the couch. He hurried to answer it, a slight glimmer of hope inside of him that Quinn would be on the other side. Instead, it was his papa. His shoulders dropped as he opened up the door.

“Hey.” he mumbled.

Rafe entered the house, and Aiden shut the door behind him. He turned around, and his dad gave him a solemn look.

“How are you doing?” Rafe asked.

Aiden shook his head. “It’s been a week, and I haven’t slept, barely eaten. I can’t stop thinking about him, and I know that I’ve royally fucked up. But what do I do? And please, Papa… do not say you told me so.”

His papa shook his head. “Well, I could say something like that, but that wouldn’t really be helpful, now would it?” Rafe stared at him through narrowed eyes and pursed his lips. “No, I think you’ve learned your lesson and seen how badly your actions can affect not only yourself, but also those around you.

“I know, Papa. You don’t think I’ve realized that?” Aiden scrubbed a hand over his face.

“Now just wait a minute, Son. I’m not finished. I wanted to tell you that the last time I saw Quinn when he was picking up the kids, it was clear how hurt he was. Even though he was hurt, I could see the love he feels for you. He’s hurt and he feels used, I’m sure, and yes, Son, you did royally fuck up, but that man still loves you. You need to talk to him.”

Aiden held up his phone. “He won’t answer my calls, and he refuses to see me or talk to me. Believe me, I’ve tried.”

“Then you find a way to get to him, and you beg him to listen. All relationships have problems. Some are unfixable, but when two people love each other, then it’s worth the fight. Don’t you think so?” His dad raised a brow that said, “You know I’m right.”

Aiden nodded his head. “I know you’re right.”
