"Okay, two seconds." His papa disappeared and came back quickly dressed in a pair of pyjama pants and a t-shirt. He walked over to the house with Marcellus. “You know, you could have just called and then you wouldn’t have had to leave your mate.”

Marcellus stopped and scrubbed a hand down his face, then looked over at his papa with a sheepish face. “I didn’t even think about trying to find my mobile.”

“That’s all right, son. Just thought I’d rag on you a little and break some of the tension.” He smiled and they continued to hurry to Cellus’ home. "He's a little early, isn't he?"

Marc nodded. "Yeah, I'm worried. Is this bad?"

"Not necessarily." He walked into the bedroom and smiled at Wes. "Let's get you checked out, son." He turned to Marcellus. "He might just have miscalculated how long he was pregnant, or the baby's just ready. I'm sure everything is fine. Lay back for me, Wes.”

The omega shifted back and lay down on the bed. Marcellus quickly took his hand, and Wes squeezed it as he cried out again. It didn’t take long for Cameron to check Wes out. He nodded.

“It looks like he’s ready now.”

“Now?” Wes groaned. “Like right this minute?”

“Right this minute, son.” Cameron patted his knee. “You’re going to have a baby.” He glanced over at Marcellus. “Do you think you can stay and handle this, or do you need to send Rowan in?”

Wes’ eyes went wide. He instantly shook his head hard and reached for Marcellus. His hand tightened on the alpha’s arm.

“No, I don’t want you to leave me. Please, please stay.” He panted and squeezed Marcellus hard as another contraction hit. “My mom told me how alphas sometimes leave, but I don’t want that. I want you to stay with me. Please.”

Marcellus and his papa exchanged looks. There was a reason alphas were sometimes sent out of the room. Seeing a mate in pain... it wasn’t an easy thing to deal with. When he looked at Wes however, tears streaming down his cheeks and sweat on his brow, pleading in his big, brown eyes, he swallowed hard.

“Fuck it. I can do it.”

“Are you sure?” Cameron asked.

Marcellus sucked in a deep breath. He closed his eyes and had a quick discussion with his wolf. This is our mate. No one’s going to hurt him, but he will be in pain. We can handle this for him and his tiger. They need us.

The alpha’s wolf agreed and the pacing and agitation that he’d felt calmed around the edge. That was all he could ask his wolf to do. It helped. He took Wes’ hand in his and kissed it.

“I’ve got this, papa.” He smiled down at his omega. “Let’s have us a baby.”

Wes smiled and nodded hard. “I’m ready.”

He gripped Wes’ hands, and the omega pushed on Cameron’s command. The sound of his screaming filled the room. Marcellus’ wolf stalked around back and forth, ready to lunge if anything so much as felt a little off, but he managed to behave and held back.

“Wait, I see the baby!” Cameron pushed Wes’ knees apart further. “Really push, son! One more good one, and you’ll have your baby.”

Wes was beyond words. He nodded and bore down hard, his face focused and drenched in sweat. Everything went quiet for a minute before a loud cry echoed through the room.

“It’s a girl!” Cameron laughed happily. “And she is beautiful.” He quickly cleaned her nose and mouth and then passed her to Wes. “Hold your baby.”

“Oh my Goddess,” Wes sobbed. “She’s so beautiful.”

Marcellus peered down at his daughter. Her little dark curls and wide brown eyes reminded him so much of Wes. He smiled at his mate.

“She really is amazing.”

“Yes, yes she—” Wes sucked in a breath. “Shit!”

“What’s wrong?” Marcellus was instantly on alert.

“Something’s not…” He shook his head. “What’s going on?”

Cameron frowned. He disappeared between Wes’ legs and then looked back up with wide eyes. Both Marcellus and Wes stared at him until he blinked.

“Um, there’s another one coming.”
