“Hell yeah. I gave a donation. But I want a return on my investment,” The first one said as they slapped hands.
I cut off their celebration and approached them quickly. They stood frozen, knowing they had just fucked up.
Before I could speak, I heard my name called out over the music. I turned to look through the crowd to see who had called me, only to find Remy instead. She was being interviewed by the news station where Ivy worked. She had the biggest smile on her face, and I knew that she had worked hard as hell for the night to be perfect. I didn’t want to be the person to fuck it up, but disrespecting my wife was not about to be tolerated at all. Just as I was about to address those niggas, she caught eyes with me and waved me over.
I exhaled, walked through the crowd, and went to stand beside the cameraman.
“….I am super passionate about it. And I’m grateful for all the support from the community and my family. I really couldn’t have done it without them and my husband.” She smiledbrightly, and then the camera's lights cut off, and she shook hands with the camera crew.
“Mr. Richardson, you really have a gem here. We really admire her drive.” The anchor turned to me and shook my hand.
“I appreciate it. She really is one of one.” I said as I kissed Rem’s forehead, but made sure I didn’t lose sight of the two niggas I needed to handle. One of them had already disappeared, and I saw the jacket of the other one heading toward the door.
“Zohan, what’s wrong with you?” She asked as we took a couple of steps away from the crew.
“Nothing, baby, why?” I lied.
“You have that look in your eyes, whatever it is, it can wait.” She pleaded.
“I’m good, aight? I’m going to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” I said as I let her hand go and went to find them before they made it too far.
By the time I made it outside, they were standing at the curb, asking how long it would take for their cars to arrive.
“Hollow, grab the truck, I need you to take me somewhere,” I said, causing them both to turn around. Hollow nodded and left his position to bring the truck that was parked nearby.
When he pulled up at the curb, I went to the two guys who looked like they had been scared to move a muscle.
“Let’s go take a ride,” I said as I threw a mint into my mouth.
“Look, man, we didn’t know that was your wife; we don’t want any problems,” Mr. Blank Check begged, but his feet never left their position.
“Move before I move you,” I said as I waited. The other guy didn’t know whether he wanted to run or scream. Neither of them would do any good. With all the manpower around here, he wouldn’t make it far.
They hesitantly walked toward the back of the truck. I slid in beside them, like we were old friends. I took my gun from my waistband and gripped it tightly.
“Where are we going, boss?” Hollow asked.
“To the field,” I answered, tapping it on my knee.
“Bro, this is a misunderstanding. Can we just talk it out like men?” The one closest to me swallowed hard. I didn’t respond. Men didn’t speak about other men’s wives. When it came to Remy, nothing was negotiable.
I heard the door handle snap, and I knew that the nigga on the end was trying to make a run for it. But he couldn’t. The doors here only opened from the outside, and unless he had military grade hands, he couldn’t bust the window either.
I chuckled.
I could see the rise and fall of the nigga’s chest once we made it to the back of the building. We rode for about three minutes until we were out of view of the venue. This is what I like to call no man’s land. This is where we took all the niggas when we didn’t want to be bothered with clean up. The soil back here had its color for a reason. It was watered by blood.
Hollow parked and went around to let them out. When he hesitated, Hollow snatched that nigga by his shirt and hit him with the butt of his gun and dragged him to his feet. I chuckled. Hollow is Sanchez’s cousin, but he was on my security team, and I fucked with him tough. He was always ready to go.
When they were out of the car, I finally got out and walked toward them. Niggas were begging for their lives now. Their hands were shaking, and their voices were cracking. Funny how brave niggas get small quick. They were just laughing a minute about wanting to fuck my wife. Like she couldn’t buy these niggas and their businesses twenty times over.
“Bro!” Blank check screamed out once we walked them deeper into the field.
“Turn around nigga,” I snapped. My patience was gone, and I knew my wife would be looking for me soon.
He turned around to me, eyes wide. I aimed the gun at his mouth and shot. He talked too fucking much. The other nigga started screaming at the top of his lungs for help. It echoed through the fields.
I swung toward him and shot quickly. Once they fell, I finished the job and walked back toward the truck.
