Once we are out of the car and in my apartment, I’ll show him my new lingerie and make sure hedoesn’t fall asleep until he makes my toes curl.

I grin at Ally’s command, then warm as I remember Liam’s reaction. Did I really make him hard?

I blink in surprise at the thought, my knuckles tightening on the steering wheel. What the heck was that? It doesn’t matterhow myfriendreacted to my new purchases—I bought it for Kyle, myboyfriend.

I take a few deep breaths until Liam is out of my head and all of my attention is on what will happen when Kyle and I get back to my apartment. This lace itches like crazy, but maybe Ally is right and it will make Kyle pay attention to more than just his finish line.

Kyle flops back in the seat, fingertips drumming on his knee. “If I were driving, I’d let you blow me.”

So you can come before I do and then be too tired to get me off… like always.Irritation makes me tense, but I let my hand drift to his thigh and squeeze in reassurance. “Waiting will be worth it.”

He takes my touch as an invitation. Dragging his zipper down, Kyle shoves my hand between the opening and groans. He curls his fingers over mine and pumps his cock with our joined hands.

Guilt makes me squeeze and pump slowly up and down once. It’s been two weeks; he must be aching. But the selfish side of me wants more than getting him off in the car and watching television for the rest of the night.

I offer him a smile full of promise but pull my hand free. “We’re almost at my place.”

Shaking his head, Kyle shoves his cock back into his jeans and turns away from me.

“Hey,” I say, trying to not crash the car while dealing with his tantrum. “I missed you.”

Kyle’s gaze doesn’t move from the passenger window. “Doesn’t seem like it.”

Guilt twists in my gut. He obviously missed me, but I only live twenty minutes from the airport. Is it really that hard to wait until we are home so we can both enjoy ourselves? “Are youseriously annoyed because I don’t want to give you a hand job while driving?”

He scoffs. “I don’t know why I bothered trying. There’s no bed in the car.”

“What does that mean?”

His brows pull together, and he shakes his head. “You never want to fuck outside of the bedroom.”

“That’s not true.”

My apartment building is in sight at the end of the street. I steer the car into a parking spot and turn it off. My hands shake as I grip the wheel, trying to comprehend what he just said. “What…”

Kyle is out of the vehicle—bag in hand—without a backward glance.

Is he right? Have we only ever slept together in bed? Our nights together in the twelve months since we started dating flash through my mind. The location changed depending on whose apartment we ended up in, but every moment had one thing in common—a bed.

Kyle has already used his key to open the door and is sitting in the middle of the couch when I walk in. He doesn’t even notice my entrance; his head is tilted down, and his eyes are focused on his phone.

I scan my apartment. Liam’s bedroom door is closed, so he is already on his date. The apartment is uncomfortably quiet without him here. If I’d just picked Liam up from the airport, the room would be filled with nonstop chatter and laughter over pizza and beer as we caught up.

Kyle and I haven’t seen each other in weeks, and his face is still stuck in his phone.

His accusation hits me like a punch to the gut. Was it me who chose the bed every time? Is that why things have been so off between us lately?

If we did it on the kitchen counter or couch, would he be interested enough to make sure I enjoyed myself too?

The apartment is empty; there is no chance of anyone interrupting us…

Adrenaline pumps through my veins in an unexpected rush. Can I do this?

My fingers tremble as I push the denim jacket off my shoulders. Metal buttons clink on the wooden floor like a siren alerting the entire neighborhood that I’m about to have sex in the living room… where there is no bed.

I tug my dress over my head and let it land with a whoosh at my feet. I’m standing in my living room, wearing nothing but the blue lace Liam approved of earlier.

Remembering my best friend’s words makes my skin tingle, and anticipation builds low in my belly. I want Kyle’s eyes to burn the way Liam’s did when he looked at me. Would Kyle’s body react just as quickly?
