CHAPTER 2

Mr. Carlson

The throb starts heavy in my balls and intensifies as it pulses up my shaft, thickening my cock and threatening to make a mess behind my zipper.

All over a fucking sticky note.

I stare at my open desk drawer and the collection I can’t throw away because of a masochistic fetish my assistant has induced.

Her obstinate attitude shouldn’t turn me on. She is a pain in my professional ass, but I love that she isn’t scared of me.

I do not love that tiny heart tattooed on her inner left ankle. It’s distracting, especially when she wears the plum dress, because it highlights the purple tones in the delicate inked lines and makes me want to look at it up close, preferably when her legs are over my shoulders.

Alex, my business partner and asshole best friend, walks through my office door, spies my collection of dick-hardening Paige reminders, and smirks.

“Shut the fuck up.” I close the drawer.

He grins. “Aren’t you a ray of sunshine this morning?”

I’m a ball of repressed sexual tension that gets worse every time I step out of the elevator. It’s been like this since she walked into my office three months ago, a defiant attitude wrapped up in a sunshiny grin that I can’t get enough of.

Every day has felt like clawing my way up Mount Everest with the effort it takes to not touch her. Going home offers no relief. The nights are like Niagara Falls, bursting all over my fist.

Thank fuck I have the no-fraternization policy, or I would have spent the last three months balls deep inside of my assistant instead of focused on my clients.

Alex relaxes into one of the leather chairs on the other side of my desk. “It’sfun seeing you this worked up over a woman again.”

“This is not a Rachel situation. I want to fuck Paige, not throw away years of my life and risk my business.”

I won’t make the mistake of wanting more and risking everything again.

The reminder is what I need to cool down my libido.

I want Paige, but not forever. It’s a crush heightened by our proximity and a policy keeping us apart, making her forbidden and even more tempting. Once she is no longer my employee, the temptation will be gone, and my office will return to a distraction-free zone.

“No one is asking you to throw away your life, but if you don’t start putting yourself out there, you’re going to wake up one morning and realize you missed out.”

“On what?”

Alex drums his fingers on the arm of his chair, his face contemplative. “A life.”

I sigh, not wanting to get into this same argument again. “Is there something work-related that I can help you with?”

“A merger.”

A headache forms behind my eyes. I squeeze them shut and rub my forehead. “I thought I made myself clear. I’ve spent my entire career building this law firm; a merger with another firm will not happen.”

“It would free up time for both of us to get a life outside of this office, considering you won’t have fun inside.” Alex raises his eyebrows suggestively; his meaning is unmistakable.

I relax into my chair, mirroring his carefree posture, but I’m tense and irritated. “So, what you are suggesting is that to dissuade you from pushing for the merger, all I need to do is fuck Paige on my desk?”

Sarcasm taints my tone, but the exhilarating buzz coursing through my veins betrays just how enticing Alex’s suggestion is.

“No.” Alex rests his fist under his chin and winks at me. “But it is a good incentive.”

It’s a terrible fucking incentive. I’d be too distracted to accomplish anything besides emptying my balls inside Paige. My clients would suffer, and the business I sacrificed mylifefor would be a second thought. “We’re not merging.”

“Then I need you to go to the auction tonight and sweet-talk Roger Clarkson into signing as a client,” Alex snaps back, his irritated tone mimicking mine. “His retainer is fat enough for us to hire more associates.”
