Theo only laughed. “Not sure. Building a time machine. Making prison doors for somewhere in the caverns. Buildingsome sort of lighting contraption to make everything a little bit easier to see.”

He cracked up, and little Gael laughed right along with him, making him smile.

“I know, baby! I’m laughing with Daddy, huh? Are you ready to swim?”

“You don’t want to wait for Ryan?”

“Heavens no. He’s getting food. You know him. He’ll put together an entire tray of snacks. And then he’ll bring Ben and who knows else with him.”

“Oh, excellent.” Theo beamed over. “Go to Papa, little one. He wants to swim with you.”

“I always want to swim with you, baby boy. Come on.” Liam grabbed Gael and swung him around, watching as Theo sat down to dangle his legs in the pool. His feet were swelling a little bit these days. Not too badly yet, but he was moving right along with this pregnancy.

It wasn’t long before Theo slipped into the water, coming over to join them.

“Mmm. There they are. My two favorite wolves.”

Gael let out a tiny howl, and it was so damn adorable that all he could do was throw back his head and laugh.

Then Theo answered, and Gael’s eyes lit up, the baby howls absolutely heavenly.

Liam found himself howling along, the sound echoing through the chamber. And when another voice joined in, he knew it was his brother, and he had never been more proud.

He didn’t know if Ryan even knew he was doing it, but he heard it and so did Theo and Gael. And that was all that mattered.

Theo beamed at him. He’s going to be so very happy.

He is. So are we. I felt the baby move, love. She moved just for me, I think.

That doesn’t surprise me. You’re her papa. She’s gonna love you.Goddess, Theo honored him.

He smoothed his hands over Theo’s body. Are you feeling all right?

Gael dropped an openmouthed slobbery baby kiss on his chin.

I am. I’m fine. I feel good, in fact. Healthy.

Excellent. He liked to check in, make sure Theo was thriving.

Theo nodded, bumping him with that swollen belly.

He laughed again, and they all floated together, Liam holding up his whole world.

Chapter

Sixteen

“Whoever is banging, if you don’t stop, you’re going to die.” Theo had had enough; he was tired, swollen, his ankles hurt, his hips hurt, and his head hurt. He wasn’t sure who the hell was making all of that noise, but he was done.

There had to be some benefit to being the person in charge of everything that Liam wasn’t in charge of. And this was it. He wasn’t going to listen to this nonsense pounding anymore.

Sam peered around the corner. “Sorry, man, I was hanging pictures.”

“Can we do it some other time? My head is killing me.” Was he whining? He might be whining.

Sam frowned at him. “Are you okay? You’re really kind of swollen, and your cheeks are hot pink. Should I get Liam?”

“No, I’m totally capable of being pregnant by myself.”
