He felt Theo’s orgasm in every cell in his body, as if it was his own, which was wild because he had one of his own to take, and he was close. His entire universe was focused on nothing else than both of them coming together.
Then Theo clamped down on him, and those sharp little teeth closed on his collarbone, and Liam lost it. He shouted, his seed spurting in great bursts, filling Theo even as they were held together too tight to breathe.
Theo’s climax happened in short order, spreading between them. The scent of his mate’s need, heady and bright.
“Mmmm.” He slumped down, rolling to one side as much as he could so he didn’t crush his mate. “Love. You amaze me.”
He was caught, stuck inside Theo, and Theo seemed to be perfectly cool with it, so he was going to go with it, even if his heart was beating just a little too fast.
“It’s all right,” Theo whispered. “I’ve got you. It’s normal. We just mated, and it was amazing.”
“It was. I—you really made it perfect.”
Theo laughed a little. “I wasn’t thinking. I just had to have you now.”
He could accept that. It was a hell of an honor.
“I think this means that we’re supposed to be together,” he murmured. “Are you all right with that?”
Theo rolled his eyes, swatted his butt gently. “Yes, mate, I’ve been waiting for you my whole life.”
“Oh. Well, obviously I’ve been waiting for you too.” Thank the goddess he’d been smart enough not to get entangled with someone down in the human world.
Theo nodded and tugged the blanket up over them both. “I’m glad as well. I would hate to have had to bite someone really hard to make them go away.”
“You would, huh?” That made heat rise in his belly again. “I would pay to see that.”
Those gorgeous blue eyes stared right into him, serious as a heart attack. “You are my mate,” he said, “and I would dare any human to come between us.”
Okay, that was really hot.
“I would bite them and make them run. I may not look scary.” Theo wiggled, and the movement against his cock made his eyes cross. “But I can be fierce.”
“I know you can, love. You kept you and Gael safe for a long while.”
That made Theo sigh. “I did. I’m so much happier to be here with you. Warm and safe and with a full belly.”
Liam kept touching and easing his mate, needing to make him happy. “I can’t imagine how hard it was to try to keep the baby safe, to do the things you had to do. You are very brave and incredibly strong. I’m so proud of you.”
Theo’s eyes welled with unexpected tears. “Thank you. I tried my best, and there were days that I just wanted to run away. But I wasn’t about to do that to myself or to Gael. He deserved better, and so I was better.”
“You’re amazing. Are you really okay with us maybe moving up to be at that dragon house eventually?” They needed to be together on this.
Theo shrugged, cheeks pinking. “It feels like our house. I knew when I went in that it was a safe place, that it was a place where we would right wrongs.”
“We?” He had to ask. “You didn’t know I was coming.”
“I did. I knew you would come. It was all I had to hold on to some days.”
Liam sighed, but he held Theo’s gaze. “I heard you. I would never have left you up there. The pack just kept me down until spring.”
“I understand. It was dangerous.”
He stroked Theo’s hair off his face. “I’ll never leave you on your own again.”
Theo snuggled into his touch. “And I’ll never leave you on your own. Together, we’ll make things work. We have a child, a son who will never know any other fathers.”
“I promise you, I’ll take care of you. And him.”
