Digging my heels into the mattress, I lift my butt. “N-now, dammit.”
“Open your eyes.” His gaze on mine, he curves his middle finger inside me and he flattens his tongue over my need.
I fucking convulse into a million pieces of light and as I do, he places himself at my opening and slides so deep, our cores connect.
The thrill of being widened causes a crescendo in my symphonic explosion. Cymbals crash behind my eyelids and thunder roars inside my head and yet he brings me greater thrills as he moves in an animalistic beat.
My body throbbing, I clench my thighs and lock my ankles behind his back. As he rocks me higher, his brows wrinkle, and he grinds faster with his eyes rolled back.
“Oh my God.” A second orgasm wracks through me.
He comes with a primordial groan and a shudder. With one last thrust, he empties and collapses dead weight on my chest. For an eternity, our hearts share the same rhythm and I’m unsure where his body stops and mine begins.
He stirs after a short snooze, opens his eyes, and locks me in his gaze. By the silver moonlight, we kiss softly, and when he pulls out, I sigh.
With the condom gone, he exits the bathroom, and snuggles with me under his comforter. Then, his hands slide up and down my naked body, making his desire known.
All night long, we snooze, make love, and sometime around dawn, we crash. It seems like I just fell asleep when my phone alarm chirps. Moaning, I slip out from under him while he snores.
Wake him up.Good shoulder angel argues with the bad.
Do not. What the hell were you thinking, Danielle? My inner twenty-year-old slaps me upside the head. “You can’t fall in love with him, not again.”
“I know, I know.” Without making a sound, I dress in the bathroom and schedule an Uber.
Dammit, it’s already happened, hasn’t it?Never argue with your broken-hearted younger self. Guilt ridden, I start to write a note but unable to find the right words, I throw it in the trash.
How tragic is this? I’m about to change the world of online dating forever and am freaked out because I can’t deal with what just happened.
Chicken.Good angel taunts me as I grab my stuff and tiptoe out the garage.
I arrive at my gate ten minutes before boarding and after we level off, I sleep soundly until the wheels clunk on the tarmac.
Chapter 11
Cole
“Danni?” As my hand reaches to the empty, cool side of the bed, a sharp pain in my side reminds me of my close call with death.
Slowly, I roll out of bed, stand, and knock on the bathroom door. “Dan? You in there?”
“Dammit.” The quiet is deafening. Naked, I open the garage door and study the surroundings.
No way.All her stuff is gone. Did I hurt her? Was I too rough? Hell, I went at it full throttle but so did she. In the hall, I stop and stare at the mirror. Multiple nail marks mark my body, proof positive she enjoyed the night as much as me. I’m guessing, in the light of day, she had second thoughts.
Her cell phone goes straight to voice mail but at least she didn’t block me. Perhaps she left a note?
After throwing the pillow and the bed covers to the floor, I kneel to check under the bed. Back in the bathroom, a crumpled piece of paper in the trash catches my eye. Retrieving it, I flatten it on the mattress and try to decipher her messy handwriting.
Sorry. I have something I need to do. I’m not running. Sex was…
Give me a break. The last word is scribbled out. Sex was good? Too much? Horrible?
With her rental car out of commission, she either walked or ordered an Uber. The town has one guy who offers rides at this hour so I punch in his number. Counting rings, I hold my breath and worry how far I’ll go to chase her down.
“Hello?”
“Hi. It’s me, Cole. Did you pick up a pretty blond this morning, at my place?”
