“It did occur to me.”

His laugh is warm. “I don’t blame you. The title doesn’t fit but Grayson likes to pull it out when it suits him.”

“Like for my mother?”

“Exactly.”

“You got any brothers or sisters?”

“Two brothers, one older and one younger. One’s a fire-fighter, the other one owns a restaurant but they’re both in ‘stralya. We talk online, stay in touch.”

“They married?”

“Don’t get any ideas. They’re bloomin’ bastards.” He’s starts to laugh. “Nah, I’m pulling your leg. Great guys. My family is the best.”

“It must’ve been fun growing up. I’m an only child and my dad left when I was pretty young so it was just me and my mother.”

“Explains maybe why it’s so hard for her to let go.”

“Right? All she has done is push me away. I can’t wait to find someplace far, far away.” My head tilts up when he slips a finger under my chin.

His eyes focus on my lips, he leans in, and waits, “You are hard to resist.”

My hands reach up, my fingers fold behind his neck, and I pull him to my mouth. Soft lips press and move against mine, as explosions of desire shoot throughout my body.

Sighing, I kiss him back, repeatedly. He nips my lower lip until my eyes shoot open and he smiles under my mouth.

He turns his head for a better angle, puts his palms to my cheeks, and continues his assault on all my senses. Holy shit, the man can kiss.

He stops, his eyes almost black with desire. “Bloody hell. I’m not a fookin’ saint.” He picks up the phone and calls Suds, “I need to go off the clock, mate. Can you cover?”

I can hear him laughing out in the hall. “Took y’all long enough.”
