I think I hit home when his face softens. “Oh, I do, luv. I know exactly what it’s like.”

I think on the wounds in his chest and my face heats. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to-”

“It’s alright. Unlike you, I got my PTSD under control, most of the time.”

“So, you’ll come with me?”

Shaking his head slowly, he sighs. “I need to have my head examined.”

She laughs. “Thank God I’m a shrink.”

“Very funny.They’re coming, when?” He glances at the clock next to the bed that reads 5:00 AM in bright red numbers.

“We’re supposed to go over the script during breakfast at seven. Then, we want to be at the campus around ten. I’m not an idiot, Jack. I hired a security team.”

“Yeah, right. The guy with the flat tire?”
