“Perfect,” he replies quickly. “He really had a blast, but remind me to never give him unlimited sugar.”
We both chuckle. “That was your first mistake…” Sighing, I roll over to face him. “So, are you really ready for a second child? I mean, you just found out about the first one.”
With a soft touch, he brushes a strand of hair from my face. “I’m ecstatic. And I love you.”
I smile as he kisses my forehead. I am just as excited, but something still pains me deep inside. I really wish I could share this great news with my parents. I can already hear my mother shrieking and jumping for joy.
My father, if he could ever get over the fact that the man I want to be with is his best friend, would hug me…
This should be a happy time for me, but without their support, it feels nearly impossible to feel good about this.
