“I think I’d like to call and get this over with. I don’t have the best feeling about this.” Fiona sighs.

“I agree. Is that okay? I know you’re all probably hungry.” Teagan asks.

“No, that’s fine. We can even eat and talk. None of us will talk unless you need us to. I’ll initiate the call since I’m pretty sure he knows who I am. But after that, it’s all you two.”

We all grab a plate and sit down. Callum and I sit on one side of Fiona, Teagan is on her other side. We’re all holding hands. I can feel Fiona shaking. I can’t even imagine how I would feel if I was in her position. I really hope that Colin tells all of them what they need to hear. Because Hamish wasn’t very nice and I’m still pissed about how he talked to them.

Callum

Enea makes the phone call and tells the person on the line who he is and that he’s going to be putting the conversationon speaker. After what I’m guessing is the person giving permission, he connects the phone to the speaker box.

“Okay Colin, you’re on speaker. I’m not sure if you spoke to your father yesterday or today. But we spoke to him yesterday.”

“No, I haven’t talked to him in a few days.”

My mam gasps softly.

“Well we have a situation and while we’re not looking for anything specific, we are looking for closure.”

“Okay, closure for what?”

“Do you remember me, Colin? Or should I call you Gordon.”

There’s silence on the phone.

“Are you still there?”Enea asks.

“Aye. Is this a joke?”

“No, do you really think I would be doing this as a joke?”

“Then how do you know Fiona?”

“He knows me because we’ve become family.”

“And he knows me now.”

“Fuck me.”Colin sighs.

“We just need to know why you left us.”Teagan says angrily.

“Well I left you because my brother kicked me out of County Clare. And there was no way for me to come back.”

“So you couldn’t have called?”

“Nope.”

“And me? What about me and Callum? And don’t tell me that you were kicked out of North Ayrshire too. Because we know the deal.”

“I had my reasons. And I don’t owe you or Teagan any explanations.”

“The hell you don’t. You’re a fecking coward.”Cillian says.

“Sure. I might be a coward. But I’m okay with all of my decisions.”

How can he even say that, how do you have a child with someone and not give a shit about them? I could never do that to anyone.

“So you don’t care about any of us?”I ask.
