Brooke nodded.“Yes. Not like, professionally. But yes, I can.” Brooke licked her lips.“Would you like to dance?”

Anna softened so beautifully into a smile. She grinned and happily pushed her chair back.“I’m not graceful,” she warned as she stood.

“Don’t worry, Darling, I'm a decent teacher,” Brooke countered. She held her hand out for Anna to take. Nate gave Brooke a thumbs up as they walked past his table. She came to a stop just on the edge of the dancing space. She wouldn’t call it a dance floor, as there was nothing to denote it as different from the rest of the floor. There was just a space in which the Higginbotham’s and a few other older couples were dancing.

“Okay,” Brooke said, straightening her back. She took Anna’s left hand and guided it up to her shoulder.“This hand goes here.” She took Anna’s right hand in her left. Brooke’s posture was impeccable. It forced Anna’s straighter just by association.“Perfect. Now lean back, that’s it. Just like that, Darling. Now tilt your head to the right. Brilliant. Keep this elbow up. You’re in hold.”

Anna turned and smiled at her, but Brooke narrowed her eyes playfully and broke her hold on Anna’s hand to gently cup Anna’s face and tilt it back to the right. She tutted dramatically as she did it. The ridiculous slit in Anna’s dress revealed the fact that when Anna blushed, her whole chest flushed. The playful gesture suddenly felt super charged. Brooke immediately slipped her hand back into Anna’s and turned her own gaze to the right.

“So the count,” she said, pushing through her sudden burst of arousal.“One-two-three, one-two-three.” She knew that Anna had rhythm, they had danced together the night before. And while that type of dancing had been incredibly different, the principle remained. Anna could move with a beat and more importantly, they could move together. Brooke could feel her own blush creeping down her neck at the thought.

“What do my feet do?” Anna asked, daring to look at Brooke.

“Ah, yes. So your right foot first, going backwards.” Brooke stepped forward with her left.“Then we’re going to step more to the side. Yes, perfect. Then we’re going to step together. Good, Darling. Now, it’s your turn to step forward. To the side. Then together.” Brooke straightened up and turned her attention to Anna, raising an eyebrow playfully.“Ready to try it all at once?”

Anna nodded, clearly excited.

“Lean back.” Brooke chuckled.“Trust me, Darling. Lean back.”

Anna arched her back into Brooke's request, but Brooke didn’t let her thoughts linger. Instead, she moved them to the beat of the music, counting quietly so that Anna could follow with her. They made their small box a few times before Brooke slowed them to a stop. Anna looked positively radiantly happy.“What’s wrong?” Anna asked, clearly sad that they stopped moving.

“Nothing, Darling. I was going to ask if you were ready to move around the floor?”

Anna’s eyes widened. She nodded, happily.

Brooke smiled, more than a little pleased. It had been a long time since she had gotten to dance like this. She had forgotten how much she enjoyed it.“Okay, keep your footwork and your posture the same. You’re really doing great.”

Anna beamed as she leaned back into Brooke's hand again. And then, Brooke led. She danced them in stunning, easy circles around the dance floor, unable to stop the smile on her face. She felt lighter than she had in years. When the song came to an end, Brooke was elated. Anna nervously swayed forward, clearly wanting to kiss Brooke, but not wanting to overstep. The tension between them spiked.

“Please tell me there is somewhere more private in this castle,” Anna breathed into the space between them.

Brooke nodded quickly, immediately following Anna’s train of thought.“Yeah, I’m sure we can find something.” She didn’t let herself second guess it. She didn’t worry about who could see them, or who might have watched them dance. Instead, she just laced her fingers with Anna’s and led her quickly out of the main room. A laugh bubbled up in her chest as they walked quickly down the main hallway of the building. They passed several rooms that had been slowly filled by most of the men from the party. One of them even had some of the women. Finally, they reached what Brooke immediately recognized as the club’s trophy room. She pushed the door open and led Anna inside.

Brooke didn’t even fully get the door shut before Anna had spun them around and pushed Brooke back against it. A groan escaped Brooke's chest as her back effectively pushed the door shut the rest of the way.

“Sorry,” Anna murmured.“I just really needed to”—

If there was a rest of that sentence, it was lost against Brooke’s lips. Brooke didn’t mind, she was quite happy to let Anna do whatever it was she needed to do if it meant they got to kiss like this.

Anna’s hands found their way under the collar of Brooke’s button down, seemingly desperate to touch new skin. Brooke wasn’t entirely sure where her hands were supposed to go, but Anna’s waist felt safe. What she wasn’t prepared for, was for her thumbs to be able to trace down the center of Anna’s abs. Anna gasped into Brooke's mouth, her hands tightened around Brooke's collar. The last of Brooke’s resolve was shattered. She spun them around quickly, pinning Anna to the door. Their kisses were hungry and desperate. There hadn’t been many times in Brooke’s life that she had let herself give in to the feeling of want, but this was quickly becoming one of those moments. She broke their kiss to trace down the side of Anna’s neck with her tongue.

“Fuck, Brooke,” Anna gasped, tilting her head so that Brooke could reach more skin.

Brooke had never heard anything more beautiful in her entire life than Anna Fourchette saying her name like that. A primal need to hear it again overwhelmed her. Her whole body pressed forward, craving the feeling of Anna’s body against hers. Anna’s back arched into her, seeking out Brooke in return.

Brooke leaned back ever so slightly as Anna’s hands left her collar to push at her suit jacket, easing it down her shoulders, tugging desperately as it got caught at the crook of Brooke's elbows.

“Wait. Shit. Fuck. B, hang on,” Anna breathed.

Brooke froze immediately. She had fucked up, crossed a line she wasn’t supposed to cross. She stepped back immediately putting a foot of space between them as guilt washed over her.“I’m sorry. Shit, Anna. I’m so sorry. I”—

Anna shook her head quickly and reached for Brooke, catching her wrists and pulling her closer. Her chest was rising and falling too quickly, too deeply. Brooke had to force herself to look away.“B? Honey? Look at me,” Anna said. Her words were so soft, Brooke barely heard her. Anna’s pointer finger hooked under Brooke's chin and urged gently until Brooke was making eye contact with her.“You didn’t do anything wrong.” Anna’s cheeks were flushed, her dark brown eyes were nearly black with desire.“I just…” She bit her bottom lip and looked around the trophy room.“I want to do this right. And while I very, verymuch, want us to continue, I think maybe we should wait for tonight. When we don’t run the risk of being walked in on. Or interrupted. And maybe where your mom isn't in the same building.” Anna let out a gentle laugh.

Brooke exhaled in relief and nodded. Logically, Anna was making very sound points. Points that she appreciated, genuinely. She nodded.“Right, yes. Of course. You’re absolutely correct.” She still couldn’t shake the feeling that she had done something wrong.

“Hey, Honey?” Anna asked, waiting for Brooke to look at her again.

“Hmm?” Brooke hummed in response. As soon as Brooke had made eye contact with her, Anna cupped her face. Anna leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to Brooke’s lips and rested her forehead against Brooke's.
