“I’m going to go take my jacket off,” she said as close as she could get to Anna’s ear.
“I’ll come help,” Anna said with a dangerous laugh.
She grabbed Brooke's hand then and weaved them back over to their little VIP booth. They were greeted with a round of cheers and another round of shots. Brooke should really slow down. She’d had wine at dinner, a gin and tonic when they first got to the club and now two shots. If she was out with Christine and Vivienne, it wouldn’t have mattered, but she wasn’t out with them. She was out with her soon to be sister-in-law, her mother, and the girl she was falling desperately in love with, all at once.
She felt Anna’s hands slide up the back of her jacket, her fingers dipping below the collar at the top to help tug it down. Brooke should probably not be so turned on by the simple act of Anna pulling her jacket off of her, but it was all she could do to keep it together.
Mel came over to join them then, fortunately (or unfortunately) breaking the tension that was quickly mounting between them as she did.“Well? Are you two having a blast?”
Anna beamed.“This is amazing, Mel. Seriously, thank you so much for inviting us. My friends were never really clubbers, club goers? Anyway, every time we went it just felt like a horrible experience. This though? This is great.”
Mel nudged Brooke.“And you? I saw you out there shaking it.”
“I’m actually having a really good time,” Brooke shouted back over the music.
Mel’s smile was positively radiant.“Well come on, let’s get back out there.”
After Brooke's jacket was stacked in the back corner of their booth with all of the purses and other jackets, and after her sleeves were rolled up neatly thanks to Anna, they headed back onto the dance floor. The song playing was definitely, horrifyingly sexual, and everyone on the floor seemed to be taking its lyrics too seriously. Anna included. She was back to being spun around in front of Brooke, her ass firmly pressed into Brooke's front, her whole body moving to the beat of the music. And Brooke was back to being almost completely frozen with panic.
Anna spun around and wrapped her arms around Brooke's neck, pulling her in close. For half a second, Brooke thought Anna might kiss her, but at the very last moment, she turned her head so that she could speak directly into Brooke's ear.“Just relax, B. Dance with me.” It wasn’t a question, it wasn’t even a command. It was permission.
She spun back around and swayed into Brooke's body, only this time, Brooke participated. She rolled with her. She took Anna’s cue from earlier and let her hands find the curve of Anna’s hips. She pulled Anna closer and let one of her hands slide possessively to the center of Anna’s abdomen. One of Anna’s arms reached up behind her and threaded itself into Brooke's hair. Brooke was rapidly losing control of the situation. Her resolve was melting faster than the beat of the music.
When the song ended, the DJ decided to switch it up, opting to pump a slower song through the speakers. Most of the crowd thinned out immediately. Brooke took a step back and prepared to join them, but Anna spun and caught her hands.“Wait,” Anna said, not having to shout over this one.“I never actually went to a school dance. Can we awkward teenage dance together?”
Brooke licked her lips, but nodded. She would never deny Anna something as pure as that request and thankfully with the song change, so changed their tension. Brooke deliberately put her hands on either of Anna’s sides and started swaying back and forth while Anna let her arms wrap around Brooke's neck.
“Thank you,” Brooke said as they rocked back and forth together on the dance floor.“I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Anna looked up into Brooke's eyes.“Yes, you could have. You’re incredible, Honey-B. You could do anything you put your mind to.”
“Well, Iwouldn’thave done this without you, then.” There was so much warmth in Anna’s eyes at that sentiment that Brooke just couldn’t place.
“B?” Anna whispered, leaning in ever so slightly.“Stop me if this isn’t okay with you.”
Brooke’s eyes widened with shock. Anna was seriously leaning in right now for a kiss. She knew there was a strong possibility that her mother could see them. Her heart was pounding in her chest far faster than the beat of the music. Her eyes flashed down to Anna’s mouth, just in time to see her perfect tongue roll out to wet her lips. Brooke exhaled shakily. She should say no. They should talk first. Brooke knew how she was feeling, but what if Anna was on a different page? What if Anna wanted to just kiss her, while Brooke was busy falling in love? What if this was all part of the act? They had never discussed the potential for more. They had never taken the time to explore the fact that there were looks shared and touches that lingered, and snuggles that didn’t need to continue, but did.
But Brooke didn’t say any of that. Instead, she let the gravity and magnetism of Anna pull her in like a tide to its shore. Anna’s fingers ghosted down Brooke's jaw, cupping the soft expanse of skin above her pulse point, tugging ever so slightly. Brooke’s arms tightened around Anna’s waist to help keep her footing steady and sure. She felt quite certain that her lips touching Anna’s would surely cause her to lose consciousness, best be prepared for it.
She had braced for a slight press of Anna's lips, a gentle, at most a bit exploratory, but instead Anna kissed her for real. Brooke's eyes widened in surprise, the shock nearly causing her to miss the whole moment. But then her instinct and her desire took over. If this was her one shot to kiss Anna Fourchette, she would not fuck it up.
Just as Anna started to pull back, Brooke surged forward, closing her eyes and giving herself over to the kiss. Anna practically squeaked into her mouth with surprise, but immediately melted in Brooke's arms. Brooke’s hands cupped the sides of Anna’s face, guiding and encouraging, urging Anna to not pull back. They could have kissed for thirty seconds or thirty minutes, Brooke never would have known. Time functioned like that when she was with Anna. They never had enough of it, yet each moment felt like the world had come to a stop just for them.
When they finally pulled apart, Anna rocked up to her toes to press a soft kiss to Brooke's forehead. The sincerity behind it caused Brooke to blush even brighter than the kiss had. They needed to talk. Brooke needed to put words to how she was feeling. She needed to make sure they were on the same page. Because Brooke felt like she was running for the end of the plane without even knowing if there was a parachute in her backpack.“Anna,” she whispered, but that thought was immediately cut off by a round of cheers and whistles from the entire bachelorette party.
“Ow owwww!” Mel called out from not too far away.“Over here kissing like you're falling in love all over again.”
Brooke felt her blush creep up her neck. When she dared turn to face the rest of the party, she realized that they had danced themselves over to almost directly in front of the VIP area, and more importantly right in front of Brooke’s mother, who did not look at all as amused as the rest of the party.
Chapter Fourteen:
They had kissed. Anna Fourchette had really kissed her. And Brooke had kissed her back. Brooke couldn’t get her heart to calm down. However, her mother had seen it, and that thought had left her feeling sick.“I’m going to get some air,” Brooke murmured, quickly heading towards the smoking area off the back of the club.
She slipped through the crowd with ease, not stopping until she had made it to the very back corner of the smoking area, away from everyone who was actually smoking. Anna pushed through the same door just seconds after her.“B?” Anna asked, her eyes searching for her through the crowd. Brooke wasn’t hard to spot, she was standing all by herself. Anna approached her nervously.“Did I fuck up?” She asked, still from a few feet away.
Brooke shook her head no. Her problem didn’t have anything to do with Anna. She would happily still be kissing her if she was given the option. It was the look in her mother’s eyes that had sent her into a spiral.“No, Anna. You didn’t fuck up. That was… um… no. There was nothing wrong with that.”
“Was it that your mom saw?” Anna asked, daring to step closer.
