“Nothing,” Anna sighed.
Nick let out a laugh. “I bet I know,” he said in a sing-song voice.
“Nick, don’t,” Anna shot.
“What? Do you think it will bother your girlfriend to know that the reason you’re pouty about this movie choice is how long it is?”
“I mean, it is long,” Brooke agreed, “but the director’s cuts are really worth it.”
Nick looked pleased. “I agree.”
Brooke smiled at him, glad to have found something in common with him that wasn’t just their connection through Anna.
“But it will keep you two here, with me, and not in bed,” Nick added, his smile turning from charming to salacious.
Anna blushed an incredibly deep shade of red.
Andoh, Brooke now understood the reason behind the groan.
“Thank you for that, Nick,” Anna said, keeping her attention pointedly on the screen.
Brooke couldn’t help but chuckle a little. The fact that Anna Fourchette wanted their movie to be over faster so that they could go to bed together was still something Brooke would have to adjust to. “Nicholas, I agree to no fornication in your presence, but would it bother your terribly if we snuggled?”
Anna’s attention immediately shot to Brooke, a happy smile tugging at her lips. Brooke grinned back, glad to know that she had made Anna happy with the request.
Nick hummed dramatically. “Keep your hands where I can see them.” He narrowed his eyes at Brooke playfully. “You sapphics can get stuff done rather sneakily.”
Brooke felt the tips of her ears go hot, but she knew he was just teasing. “Acceptable terms,” she agreed.
“I like you, Brooke Kent. You’re fun,” Nick said, though his eyes were absolutely already fixed back on the television.
Brooke and Anna took the next few minutes to adjust and to do their best to get comfy on the big leather sofa together. Brooke wished she had just worn sweats or pajama pants over. She knew the plan was to eat popcorn and watch some of the movie then pause for a pizza break then watch the rest of the movie. So, she had wanted to wear real clothes, but being all snuggled up like this with Anna already in her arms on the couch made her wish she had just worn something softer.
“I missed you today,” Anna whispered into Brooke’s ear.
Brooke smiled and squeezed Anna tighter to her. “I missed you, too.”
Anna kissed her cheek. “I’m glad you came over tonight.”
“Me too, Darling. I’ll sleep better,” Brooke added. She could feel Anna’s smile widen against her neck.
“Don’t fall asleep during the movie.” Anna pressed a kiss to Brooke’s pulse point.
The contact made Brooke’s heart slam against her chest. She knew that Anna would be able to feel it from this position. All of the heat in her body rushed to her core. “I won’t,” she said, though her response was probably louder than a whisper.
“Shush,” Nick said, “you two are missing the movie.”
“You’re lucky we’re still in the living room,” Anna sniped back.
Nick let out a laugh. “That’s fair. You did say, and I quote ‘holy fucking shit, Nick. She’s the best lay of my life, like, times infinity.” Nick’s impression of Anna’s voice was a little uncanny.
When Brooke finally registered what he said though, her eyes snapped to Anna. “Wait, really?”
Anna was flicking Nick off with a look of betrayal on her face. “How dare you break the covenant of spilled tea time.”
“Your girlfriend seems pleased with the information. Therefore, I only half apologize,” Nick grinned.
Anna scoffed, but she settled back into place in Brooke’s arms. “Sorry about him,” she said, definitely loud enough for him to hear.
