“Okay, but I don’t have a foundation in the right shade to cover them,” Anna sounded almost panicked as she started to rifle through her makeup bag.

Brooke wrapped her arms around Anna’s waist and hugged, letting her chin rest on Anna’s shoulder.“Hey, Darling?” She waited until Anna met her gaze in the mirror.

“Yeah?” Anna asked, still looking a bit frantic.

“I don’t mind.”

“But your parents are going to be at brunch,” Anna sank back into Brooke's arms.

Brooke just shrugged and leaned forward to kiss Anna’s cheek.“And?” Brooke continued,“according to my father, the goal is to make amends. But as we’ve seen, my mother is likely just going to be mean regardless. I’m not going to stress about the marks.”

Anna spun around in Brooke's grip and wrapped her arms around Brooke's neck.“You’re not mad?”

Brooke shook her head no.“Not in the slightest, Darling. I’ve quite enjoyed the morning.”

“No ragerts?” Anna asked.

Brooke frowned at her.“I’m not entirely sure what that means.”

Anna just giggled.“It’s from a movie. I’m not sure it’s one I’d recommend to you. I’ll have to get to know your movie taste better, first.”

That thought warmed Brooke's heart. They still had so many firsts ahead of them. Movie nights, game nights, maybe even things like camping. The possibilities were endless. She didn’t know what all Anna would be up for, or what their friend groups could potentially do together.“I would like that.”

Anna beamed at her, but her gaze slowly dropped to Brooke's neck.“I am sorry about that. I promise to be more careful in the future.”

Brooke bit her bottom lip, uncertain how to go about saying that she kind of liked it. She shrugged.“Nate and Mel are probably going to tease us for it.”

Anna giggled.“Oh they definitely will.”

“But I don’t mind them, and I normally work from home so…”

Anna’s eyes darkened.“So, I don’t have to be careful?”

“Not normally, no,” Brooke said, the tension between them palpable. If she didn’t break the moment, they might lose themselves in it. She stepped back before she traced the hooks on Anna’s overalls, settled just below Anna’s collarbones.“You look really cute in this outfit.” Anna did look really cute in her outfit. Her long, dark denim overalls and her black top were surprisingly, very Anna.

“You think so?” Anna asked, blushing at the compliment. She seemed to follow Brooke's intention of lightening the mood between them.

Brooke nodded.“Yeah, it suits you.”

Anna stuffed her hands in her pockets and swayed her hips side to side, happily.“Okay, but can I add my favorite accessory?”

“Of course, Darling.” Brooke wasn’t too sure what Anna’s favorite accessory might be, but she was happy learning Anna’s process.

Anna rushed back into their bedroom, the hickeys forgotten, Anna’s excitement back to tangible. Anna all but sprinted over to the dresser where Brooke’s jewelry was all laid out. She smiled mischievously as she slipped the‘k’signet ring onto her pinky finger.“Okay, what do you think?” Anna looked hopeful.“This is my favorite outfit.”

Brooke appraised it, pinching the point of her chin between her thumb and her pointer finger, feigning critique. There was nothing to object to, Anna would look amazing in a paper bag.“I think you look perfect.”

“You’re just saying that because I went down on you in the shower,” Anna teased, tugging at Brooke's belt loops.

All the heat in Brooke’s body rushed to her cheeks.“No, I think you’re just really cute,” she tried to protest, but it was too late. Anna was grinning, too happy to contain herself.“Okay, and yeah, you did that.”

Anna pulled her in and kissed her.“You look cute, too, Honey-B.” She lifted her hand and traced down Brooke's neck, letting her thumb ghost over one of the marks she had left.

She didn’t say anything, but Brooke saw the way Anna’s eyes darkened, she liked them as much as Brooke did, they were just trying to hover around that fact given that they had somewhere to be rather soon. Brooke's phone buzzed in her pocket before she could comment on it. Clarence’s name popped on her screen. She held her phone up for Anna to see.“Brooke Kent,” she answered.

“Ms. Kent, this is Clarence. I’m here to give you and Ms. Fourchette a ride.”

“Perfect. Thank you, Clarence. We’ll head right down.”
