Anna snuggled in tighter in Brooke's arms, kissing anything her lips could reach without having to lift her head. She suddenly fought against Brooke's grip so that she was propped up on her elbows hovering over Brooke.
“Yes?” Brooke asked, suddenly confused by the serious look in Anna’s eyes.
“You can have massages, too,” Anna said.
“Okay.” Brooke was still confused.“Thank you?”
“I just realized I didn’t even offer you one just now.”
Brooke frowned.“My back doesn’t hurt, Darling. It’s fine. Maybe after a Jujitsu tournament.”
Anna shook her head.“No, like, amassage.”
“Are you talking about orgasms right now?” Brooke asked, really and truly trying to grasp what Anna was saying.
Anna nodded, excitedly.“Would you like one?” Anna surged forward to kiss her before Brooke could even answer.
Brooke wondered then if someone somewhere had tried to catalog all the ways in which two people might kiss, because she was quite certain that no two of her kisses with Anna had been the same. This kiss was entirely laced with love and devotion. If there was a way to practice a religion through kissing, this would be it.
“Sorry if that was a weird way to phrase it,” Anna whispered when they broke apart. Her eyes scanned Brooke's, still waiting for her response.
Brooke shook her head.“It wasn’t weird. Just unexpected.”
Anna nudged her playfully.“We could have massages be our safe word.” Anna teased.
That made Brooke snort in a fully undignified manner.“Not if you want them every day, I’ll be confused.” She looked around the room. The sun had risen higher, she could tell by the way the light filtered in over the top of the curtains.“Before we get too carried away, we should check the time, and then we should shower.”
Anna’s teasing smile turned into full on beaming.“Together?” she asked, so excited she was practically vibrating.
“If you’re up for it?” There was not a single ounce of her that wanted this morning to come to an end. Brunch be damned. But she was very aware that she told Mel they were going to go, and she was a woman of her word. If she was correct in her assumption, it would be roughly nine o’clock which would give them an entire hour to shower and get ready. And really, would it be such a big deal if they were a few minutes late?
Chapter Twenty-Six:
It was in fact nine-seventeen. They had pulled Brooke's baggy T-shirts on to track down their phones in Nate and Mel’s flat. Brooke blushed at the trail of clothing that began with their shoes in the entryway and ended with all but their under garments in the kitchen. Anna seemed equally as amused. She bit her bottom lip and let out a low, breathy laugh as she gathered up her dress and her heels from the night before. Anna moved quickly while Brooke stayed frozen in place. As soon as Anna had deposited her clothing from the night before in their bedroom, she shuffled back into the room and began to dig through some of the cupboards.
“What are you looking for?” Brooke asked, still staring at her own trail of clothes.
Anna stifled a laugh.“I’m looking for cleaning products,” she said, rather matter of factly as she produced an all purpose spray and some paper towels.“My food safety license is literally begging me to clean their counter for them given…” Anna didn’t finish her sentence, she just sprayed down the area they had momentarily paused at the night before.
Brooke felt the tips of her ears go red as she realized immediately why Anna was cleaning the counter. Instead of standing there and watching Anna clean, she collected her trousers, her tuxedo shirt, her waistcoat, her jacket, her untied bow tie, and her dress shoes. Their phones were still in the breast pocket of Brooke’s jacket. Mel had texted them both the address to the location of their brunch and informed them that they were running late and would just meet them at the restaurant. It was thirty minutes away. Which gave them an hour and thirteen minutes to get ready. Brooke sent Clarence a quick message, asking if he’d be available to give them a ride today. He was quick to let her know that he’d be there at exactly ten-thirty.
“Everything okay?” Anna asked as she put away the cleaning products.“You have your thinking face on.”
Brooke softened into a smile.“Yes, I suppose I do. I’ve just asked Clarence if he’d give us a ride.”
“Do we still have time to shower?” Anna asked, hopefully.
Brooke nodded, perhaps a little too quickly.“Absolutely, Darling.”
Brooke deposited her dirty clothes from the night before in their bedroom, and together she and Anna all but sprinted to the washroom. Brooke hummed as she spun the faucet.“Serious question, water temperature?”
Anna stared at her, waiting for more, when Brooke never embellished, Anna just let out a laugh.“Oh, that’s the whole question?”
“Yes,” Brooke said, only slightly exaggerating the importance of the question.“Cold? Warm? Hot?”
“Honestly?” Anna asked, scrunching her face as if she was concerned she’d answer incorrectly.
Brooke nodded.“I’m already all in, but I do reserve the right to judge.”
