Nix

“Please tell me that you didn’t bring me all the way to the top of the mountain just to leave me,” Nix said as he scowled out the SUV’s window. Why Evan insisted they make this drive was beyond him. Aries and Vin should have arrived at the house by now and Nix wasn’t there to greet them. After all the trouble he’d gone through to make sure Aries had the most perfect room ever!

Evan snorted. “If I did just leave you here, I have no doubt that you’d find and torture me.”

Nix glared over at him. “Not if I freeze to death!”

“You’d haunt me for the rest of my life.”

“I totally would.” Nix pointed his finger at Evan’s face. “Remember that!”

Evan grabbed his finger before yanking Nix close. Ugh! Seat belt! Maybe Evan was trying to kill him? It couldn’t be because Nix had overcommitted them to his family Christmas. Or insisted that every room needed a Christmas tree and madeEvan stay up until the early morning helping him decorate the said trees.

Okay, Nix might understand why Evan wanted to torture him but…it wasn’t his fault! He just wanted a perfect Christmas for everyone. It was his and Evan’s first Christmas, first time hosting, and it was important, damn it!

“Baby.” Evan caught Nix’s chin, forcing Nix to meet his gaze. “This isn’t punishment.”

“But it’s so cold,” Nix whined.

“It will be worth it.”

“Promise?” Nix batted his lashes while poking out his bottom lip. “And will you also promise to warm me up later?”

Leaning forward, Evan kissed Nix. Hard.

Yep! Nix was feeling better already. Daddy had the best ideas. And seriously, Evan wouldn’t drag Nix out in the snow, away from his brother, for nothing. Drawing away from the kiss, Nix grinned. “Amaze me, Daddy.”

“Keep being sassy and you’ll be amazed by my punishment. I’m quite sure I can find somewhere to put you over my knee out here,” Evan threatened.

Nix just smirked. The last time that Evan had used that line, it had ended up with Nix coming twice from his spanking. Turned out, Nix had a bit of an exhibitionist streak and Evan pulling him into a storage room at the arena had been enough to get Nix really going.

“Or there are plenty of corners back at the house,” Evan corrected.

Immediately Nix cleared his features. Corner time sucked! Sucked major donkey balls! Nix hated having to stand still in the corner with his hands tied behind his back with nothing to do but think about what he’d done. No, sir! Twice was enough for him. Luckily, that wasn’t a punishment that Evan used too often. Nix was a fan of funishments like being tied up and spanked. Those were awesome! He was slowly learning what would get him what he wanted but not pushing Evan too hard and receiving the disappointed look that made Nix’s insides feel funny.

“Better,” Evan praised. He glanced out the windshield. “Ready? If we want to beat the next snowfall, we need to get moving.”

“Moving to where?” Nix asked for like the millionth time. Why wouldn’t Evan tell him where they were going?

“I’ll grab the bag from the back. Let’s go,” Evan ordered.

He shivered from the dominance in Evan’s voice. Maybe if Nix just kept thinking about how hot his Daddy was, then he wouldn’t freeze to death. Unbuckling the seat belt, Nix reluctantly exited the SUV.

They met at the front of the vehicle and Evan held out one gloved hand.

“This mountain is known as themountain of the gods,” Evan started to explain as they began the hike up the path. “In the past, it’s said that the old gods resided here when they visited this realm. The snow is constant even in the summer.”

“So it’s always this cold?” That sounded terrible.

“In the summer, I can come up here in shorts and a T-shirt and be comfortable,” Evan responded.

“You come up here that often?”

“I do. That’s why I want to share this with you,” Evan said.

Nix stopped walking and pulled Evan to a stop. So much of their life in Florida revolved around Evan taking care of him. Evan got off on it. Nix had no doubts about that. He constantly tied Nix up to hand-feed him, made sure Nix had all the ingredients for his baking, and got them to practices and games. Evan had taken up all the little tasks that were mundane and boring, allowing Nix more freedom to concentrate on fun things.

This trip to Evan’s home, and that was what the giant house was, was a chance for Nix to learn more about his man. It was special for them. And Nix was able to share it with his family, which meant bringing Evan closer to the people that meant the most to Nix. Family was important. Nix wanted Evan to feel the same love.
