Chapter Seven
Joel
The look on Alessandra’s face was pure horror, an expression I found completely adorable. I just wanted to smush her cheeks with my hands and kiss her lips so hard.
She looked at me and blinked, most likely hoping I would disappear. Hell to the no on that one, baby. Then her head whipped towards the teenage boy she was eating with.
It had to be her son, and he was staring at me like I was his biggest hero. Honestly, both of their faces were priceless.
“Care if I join you guys?” I started to pull out a chair when both of them started talking. Alessandra was saying ”Yes,” and her son saying, “Fuck no!” Alessandra’s head whipped back to her son and she swatted him on the arm in a very motherly way.
“Mouth!”she barked, giving him an eye.
“Seriously? I’m allowed right now to curse. Do you know who this is?” He gave her attitude right back. Yep, he was most definitely her son.
“Thanks. You guys get some water time in this afternoon?” I plopped down in my seat and waited for our lucky server to come back our way.
“Yeah, we did. It was sick! But then I saw the man in the gray suit, and we hightailed it out of there. It was like a fourteen-footer, dude.” The kid rambled on while his mom just looked uncomfortable as hell.
“Nice. I once saw a twenty-footer by my house in La Jolla.” I grabbed Alessandra’s cup and took a sip, just for the reaction I would get from her. She didn’t disappoint—her face said there was going to be hell to pay for all of this.
“No way!!” he said excitedly, then he schooled his face.
“I mean, that’s pretty cool.” Heh.Trying to be all nonchalant about it, a true teenager. These two. I could be around them all day and never be bored.
Another kid yelled out to Jenson, and Alessandra excused him to go say hello. The waitress came right before Alessandra had her chance to question me or give me some sort of attitude. Saved! She stared at me as I pretended not to know what I wanted, and wasted time asking the waitress about what she liked on the menu. If steam could come out of my girl’s ears, it would be.
I ended up ordering a burger and fries, sending the starry-eyed waitress on her way to put in the order.
“What the hell are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?” The words just flew out of her mouth, and with a tinge of that accent I found so attractive. She glanced at her son, who was pointing subtly at me,then her eyes came back to my face.
“Yeah, it’s my new hobby. I follow you around the traffic of Los Angeles, hanging in the trees, waiting to catch a peek at your tits while you change. I pretty much live outside your window.” I smile the whole time I’m spinning my story, which she knew was all crap, too.
“I honestly was just walking towards the surf when I saw you and had to come over. The water is my second home, and today was such a nice day. As you know, we don’t always get out before the sun sets.” It was as simple as that. No conspiracy here.
Those walls of hers were up high, but I could see she was willing to put down a window.
“Oh. We like the water, too.” I liked that, very much in fact.
“You surf too?” If she said yes, I might have to ask her to marry me right now.
“Yeah, it’s something Jenson and I like to do together.” My hand reached out for hers, and my mouth just opened.
“That’s it, Alessandra, you are the woman for me. Marry me?” If I was being honest with myself, I would have to admit that if she said yes, I would probably go through with it. I wasn’t in love. But this was a woman I felt like I could be around for years upon years, and never get bored. She was so refreshing, and everything about her I have discovered I really liked. A girl who surfs? Dream come true.
“Yeah, sure. You wouldn’t last five minutes with me as your wife.” She scoffed, and I felt my dick start to stir, thinking about the fun we would have living in the same house together. Then her son came back with his friend.
“Hey. Um, can I get a picture?” asked Jenson’s friend, who was a little pudgier than Jenson but had this goofy grin on his face and twinkles in his brown eyes.
“Sure thing.” I took a fun picture with the kid and soon my food arrived at the table.
Jenson rejoined us, and we talked about surfing, and how he’s been dying to swim with the sharks up in Monterey Aquarium. He really enjoyed all things ocean. Every once in a while, during our little dinner, Alessandra would pipe up and tell a story of Jenson’s childhood years. I think it was just a mom thing, and of course Jenson would turn pink and try to shush her. He never once asked how I knew his mom, and she didn’t discuss it, either.
When it was time to leave, we said our goodbyes in a civil manner. Which was not what I preferred. I would have rather pulled her into my arms, dipped her down, and kissed her hard, so she would think of our kiss during our separation. Instead there was a “thanks for hanging out with us” from the kid, a “bye” from her, and I said a “see you tomorrow.”
They both hitched their boards under their arms, and headed towards the road. I wondered if they lived around here. It wasn’t the best of areas, but it wasn’t super shitty either.
“Are you going to date Joel?” I heard Jenson ask his mom while they walked off. She didn’t answer, and he gave her his opinion, which was pretty awesome.
