Epilogue

No one ever found out what we did at Reapers.

And if they did, they were smart enough to keep their fucking mouth shut about it. Really, as long as Cole didn’t find out, I didn’t care, but there were people who could have found out that might have said something. And Cole had enough on his plate than to worry about if some of his sponsored bikers were fucking in the bathroom at Reapers.

For now, though, we were in an unusual position.

We were at church. That was usual. All of the officers were present. That was usual.

“We have our guest here for a reason,” Brock said.

Sheriff Davis being a part of church was very much not usual. In fact, it had caused me a lot of concern. He was once our enemy, and now he was in church?

At least we weren’t actuallyinchurch. We were outside the clubhouse, behind it, away from the view of the road. Sheriff Davis had a stern look on his face, his arms crossed.

“Sheriff?”

“Gents,” he said. “I received a dispatch from state officials recently. It concerns you and your friends in the Bandits.”

“Our friends,” Zack scoffed.

Sheriff Davis ignored that.

“The FBI is starting to unravel a crime ring that we believe originates in Las Vegas,” he said. “There’s a man that they have identified only by his code name, King. King is a man with a vast criminal empire of drugs, prostitutes, and other illegal activities. King, however, is a man that is very good at keeping his hands clean and remaining above the fray. It’s going to take some time for the FBI to pin him down.”

“And what does this have to do with us?” I growled, still not pleased at the arrival of Sheriff Davis.

The officer sighed, annoyed at my attitude. Maybe he needed to realize I had damn good reason to be annoyed with his presence, far more than he did with me.

“King provided significant financial support to the Fallen Saints MC out in Springsville,” Sheriff Davis explained. “He’s also providing financial support to other clubs in return for them carrying out his crimes. When the Fallen Saints fell in Springsville, he did not spring into action immediately, choosing to focus his efforts elsewhere. However, when he learned that another chapter of the Black Reapers opened here, we believed that he saw a real threat emerge. We believe that he has chosen to fund the Bandits.”

Which explains their elevated attacks recently. They have more money behind him.

“I bring this to you because you need to finish whatever it is you’re trying to do now before this turns into two armies fighting each other,” Sheriff Davis said. “When you two were two groups fighting, I just made sure it didn’t escalate. I can’t stop you two from launching grenades or having shootouts at each other.”

He shook his head in frustration.

“Goddamn state and fed officials are starting their own investigation too,” he said. “You guys had better lay low.”

“Bandits won’t,” Zack said.

Sheriff Davis folded his arms.

“Then I guess you better use that brain of yours to figure something out, Zack. Because if you don’t, the government will. And if you do that, you all will wind up in a jail cell.”
