The whole time that I watched Garrett and my brother, I knew exactly what was happening.
Mason might not have noticed, but I sure did. I could see Garrett stealing looks my way. And boy, he was looking mighty fucking hot in that black cut of his.
I was right about him having the man bun. What I hadn’t expected was how he had turned into an absolutely fearless, give-no-fucks kind of guy. Again, I didn’t remember every single detail of him from back in the day, but the Garrett I remembered I think had a girlfriend and was on the more polite, if not a little alcoholic, side.
But this Garrett, as soon as my brother was taken by the skanky girl, wasted no time looking at me and making his desires known.
And for how cooped up I’d been and how little chance I’d have to let loose, let’s just say I was willing to play a little bit more than I normally would have.
“You’re right, I’m not going to hesitate to say how I feel,” I said, putting his hand on his cheek.
And then I patted it twice and walked past him.
“You’re going to have to work for me a little bit more than that, Garrett.”
I walked over to the bar, grabbed the bottle of tequila that Garrett had been chugging earlier, and poured myself a shot. He walked right over to me, snatched the bottle from my hand, and looked at me.
“You mean to tell me that you looked at me with those eyes all this time, your brother finally leaves, and you’re going to make me work for it?”
“Yes.”
Garrett shrugged and started chugging the bottle of tequila as I took the shot. What he didn’t know—or maybe he did, but he was just playing the part—was that I was taking the shot of tequila as much for the liquid courage as I was to see him earn it. Just because I was leaning a certain direction didn’t mean I’d just give myself over to him.
And if I were honest, a part of me did worry about what Mason would do if he found out.When. You know he will.
But the more I drank, the less I’d care about those things.
“So what in the hell happened to you, Garrett?” I said.
“I became awesome?”
“You know what I mean,” I said, rolling my eyes. “You used to be a dork as a teenager. And now you’re like some surfer dude in New Mexico, riding around in a motorcycle club, getting into fights and sleeping with anyone willing within a fifty-mile radius. Most high school nerds don’t grow up to rule the girls in their town.”
Garrett chuckled, narrowed his eyes at me, and shrugged.
“Things happened.”
“Didn’t you have a girl—”
“Why are you talking so much about the past, baby doll?” he said, coming forward and putting his hand on my lower back. It sent shivers all through me, and I was starting to get soaked. I could feel his cock bulging in his pants. “Aren’t you more interested in the present? Doesn’t what could happen interest you more?”
I pursed my lips. Did I give him what we both wanted just yet?
“I like to know the guys I go home with,” I said with a coy smile. It was tossing a hungry dog some morsels. I had to see if he could keep control of himself or lose what little he had. “You gotta tell me something. Otherwise, I give you nothing.”
Garrett groaned.
“You weren’t supposed to make it this hard.”
“Is that so?”
“No.”
“That’s very honest of you.”
“Would you expect anything less?”
