“I’ll grab some of that for you.”
As she went to the bathroom, though, she continued talking to me.
“So what are you going to do about Steele, then?” she asked. “If he said he doesn’t want to see you again? That seems ridiculous.”
“I think it’s because he got arrested by the sheriff and he’s worried the cop will come for me too. The sheriff did warn me to stay away.”
Tara groaned as it sounded like she went through much of her bathroom closet.
“The sheriff there is kind of a dick, yeah, but I never worry about him with Brock,” she said. “I think you should see Steele again.”
“I will, if only because I’m going to bail him out tomorrow. But I don’t know about anything beyond that.”
Tara came back into view moments later. She had that fiery smile on, the one that told me whatever she was planning, she was going to see it through.
“We’ll see about that,” she said. “I think I can knock some sense into him.”
