He growled at her but stayed perfectly still. Her laughter curled between them, dark and pleased. Delaney stuck out her tongue and dragged it slowly along the glowing line of his skin. He jerked forward, one hand catching the wall for balance.

“Oh wow, you really are a virgin, huh?” she teased, tracing her tongue along him again. His cock twitched under her breath. “What a pretty cock,” she murmured before taking that thick head into her mouth.

Delaney knew she was good at giving head—more than good—but this was uncharted territory. She didn’t usually go down on something as thick as a damn water bottle, especially one pulsing with that alien light. The best she could manage was sucking in the head, her tongue swirling into the slit.

Maelic sucked in a breath, his hand threading into her hair. The tug sent a sting of heat straight to her core.

“Astara!” he panted. “I’m close. Pull off. Now—”

She ignored him. Doubled down. Sucked harder. His release hit her in a hot rush, lavender mixing with the familiar, human tang of salt. Normally she was not a huge fan of swallowing, but he tasted delicious. She swallowed what she could in long greedy suckles, a thin line of his seed slipping down her chin.

Maelic was lost to the pleasure—but Delaney understood what he had meant a heartbeat too late. The lines of hiscorematasuddenly blazed brighter, radiant bands racing from base to tip. Then they swelled, locking tight before she could pull free.

“Mmm—mhmm!” she tried around him, tugging uselessly. His hand tightened, holding her still.

“Relax… breathe,” he gasped. “I’m locked now. I’m sorry, but if you pull away now, you’ll hurt yourself.” Guilt creased his expression, even through the afterglow.

She blew a slow breath through her nose, eyes narrowing up at him.Oh, great—glow-in-the-dark knot. That’s new.

Still, she wasn’t really angry. She hadn’t listened, after all. And that “locking” thing had some interesting possibilities her body wasn’t exactly dismissing.

“It’ll pass soon,” he said, flustered. “I’ve never—this hasn’t happened before.” His gaze darted around helplessly, like he could find a solution in the air. Then his touch softened; his thumb moved in gentle circles along her temple. “You are truly wondrous,” he murmured. “The Goddess must favor me.”

When she finally came loose, Delaney dropped back, laughing. Her jaw ached, her lips tingled, her heart was hammering. Everything about it was ridiculous, messy, and dangerously close to perfect.

Delaney leaned back against the wall of the shower, her shoulders sagging. This was just what she needed, a distraction.

Her Mothman was an excellent fling. Totally not anything more. Not at all.

Chapter Ten

Maelic

NothinginallofMaelic’s years had felt sovrekinggood. Ever. He was truly blessed to have been given a mate who would do such a thing with her mouth. If she took his knot so well there, he could only imagine how she would take it elsewhere…

Maelic shook his head and focused on his task. He swept the powdered grain off the kitchen floor while Delaney showered upstairs. She’d gifted him another set of clothing—soft fabric with odd designs. This one wasn’t as magnificent as the brave and noble cat. It featured green and red orbs. Delaney had informed him that the text scrawled across the chest of the sweater had read something about ‘jingle my balls.’ Humans really did choose weird coverings.

He frowned at the mess. How had he failed so spectacularly at cooking? It couldn’t be so different from how his Mamir did it once upon a time.

He sat back on his heels. Maybe he could make her something closer to what he’d had as a child.

Maelic had managed to make something edible. No fires this time, at least.

Delaney entered the kitchen with a curious smile. She’d been mounting the tree on a stand—odd, since one would think it would stand fine on its own.

He gave her a small smile. “I prepared something other than your pancakes. I hope this is acceptable?”

Delaney chuckled and raised a brow. “It kind of reminds me of khachapuri?”

Bread with cheese in the middle?

“I did my best to recreate something my Mamir made for me as a child. I worked with what you had available. I hope it meets your nutritional needs.”

Delaney took a bite and relaxed. “Oh, this is actually really good. Lunthra foods aren’t so bad.”

Maelic chuckled. “Yes… Maybe you could join me when I return home next.”

Delaney stiffened. “I… uh, don’t know about that one, big guy.”
