He was still crouched in front of me where he was sitting and massaging my arms. “No. It’s okay.”
It felt like there was more he wanted to say, but he didn’t, and I didn’t press. “There’s more to it than that, right?”
He lifted an eyebrow. “Was that not satisfactory?”
“No! That’s not what I meant!” I yelped, “I just remembered you saying we were starting slow.”
“Do you want a peek?” he said.
The question sent a jolt of electricity through me, even though I was exhausted. “Yeah.”
He stood up, taking me by the hand and pulling me with him. He led me over to a door and opened it, revealing a walk-in closet, but instead of clothes, the place was entirely covered with different binds, ropes, whips, cuffs, and toys a plenty. It looked like a sex shop. I even recognized the device I saw Gio using on the other woman, the one that seemed to release an electric current.
“Does it scare you?” he asked.
My eyes widened as I looked across all of the instrumentalities. “No,” I licked my lips. “I can’t wait.”

To say that the next couple of weeks were some of the best of my life would be a severe understatement. I knew that Avion would be perfect, I spied it the second I laid my eyes on her, but I had no idea what that woman had hiding just beneath the surface of her innocent green eyes and adorable freckles.
She was a monster.
She saw being a sub as a challenge and threw herself into it like she had to prove that she was better at it than anyone else in the world. In my opinion, she was. She took everything I threw at her like a champion, and even for me, someone who had been doing it for a long time, she was finding ways to make the experience new for me. Requests that I wasn’t expecting, compliance in the highest, storing up pain of her own accord in anticipation of the release of pleasure.
She really was the perfect sub.
The biggest issue, if it could be called that, was the fact that I was wholly and unashamedly ignoring both of my jobs. When I wasn’t eating or sleeping, I was with Avion, training her to be a better sub, or just spending time with her and getting to know her better. It was something that I expressly avoided usually. Subs were always supposed to be just that for me, subs. We were together in the bedroom and didn’t exist to one another when we weren’t.
But Avion was different.
When I wasn’t with her, I found myself longing for her, not just sexually, but it felt like she was the only person who’d ever stimulated me mentally and emotionally as well. Something had changed inside of me, and no matter how hard I tried to undo it, I just couldn’t. It had only taken a month of having her in my home, but she’d very rapidly become my number one interest. She was a drug that I was willing to pay any amount of money to keep using, even if the currency became my time and attention. Whatever she needed, I’d get it for her, so long as I could continue to be by her side.
What had become of me all of a sudden?
On my way to her room one evening, I’d lost myself so much in the idea of getting to see her that I didn’t notice someone else walking down the hallway behind me. It wasn’t until I felt a hard slam into my stomach that my trance was broken forcing me to pay better attention to my surroundings.
“What the f… I flipped around and Milli was standing there, staring at me as if he wanted to cut my head off. “What the hell did you do that for?”
“Can you explain to me why Punk and Kelly are both blowing my phone up looking for you? Have you not been going into the office?” he asked.
“I’ve been going. I was just there yesterday,” I said.
“For how long?” Milli responded.
“I don’t know, like… a couple of hours I think.”
He frowned at me. “Are you trying to get us both killed?” he barked. “You swore that you were just trying to get closer to her so that you could get information about her brothers and father. Have you ever tried?”
“She’s opening up to me more and more,” I retorted. “These things take finesse. I don’t just wanna say, ‘Hey, now that we’re fucking, can you betray your family?’”
“Then what’s the next leg of the plan?” Milli demanded. “Your father is applying pressure to me to deliver him the good news, and I don’t think telling him his son is getting laid is going to apply in this situation.”
“Tell him I’m taking care of it,” I said, and then tried to stomp forward, but Milli grabbed my shoulder and turned me back around. “Let me go.”
“Look, I’ve been patient with you, I really have, but I’m getting pretty goddamn sick of this farce that you have things under control when you clearly don’t. You’re Merrick’s golden child, he’s not going to kill you, but if I can’t keep this train on the tracks, I’m done for.”
