The second obstacle in Avion’s plan was that I’d planned for her to escape. I sent Milli to her room and told him to make some sort of excuse to step out and leave the door open. After not having seen Avion in weeks, I knew that she wouldn’t feel any sort of obligation to stay. It was my plan to create some separation between us and use that to drive her out of her room. I had a feeling she’d come upon my bedroom doors and get curious.
Which was why I had an exhibition with one of my older subs, Emily, already in full swing.
“Gio!” I looked over at Emily and she had her hands on her hips. “Are you not even listening to me?”
“Sorry. Still a little dazed,” I lied.
She smiled at that. “Well, we do have a good time, don’t we?”
I nodded, motioning Emily forward when the elevator reached our floor. “That we do.”
She stepped onto the elevator, but when she turned and saw that I wasn’t getting on with her, she frowned. “You’re not coming?”
“I have work to do, I’m afraid,” I said.
“You always have work to do.” She reached out and grabbed the edge of my shirt and pulled me towards her. “Blow work off today. Let’s get dinner and then go back to my place for round two.”
Such a pity. “I can’t,” I said, pulling free of her grip. “I’m busy.”
“You’re always busy,” she snapped. “Can we do this again soon at least?”
“No, I don’t think we will,” I said honestly. The odds were already stacked against her with Avion around, but mix in the fact that she mentioned doing something other than having sex, and it just wouldn’t happen. It was another sub down, but it didn’t matter as much as it normally would.
I had one perfect sub in my mind and wouldn’t settle for anything else.
“Do I look like a prostitute to you?” Emily hissed. “I’m not just sex, you know?”
I lifted an eyebrow. “That’s all we’ve done.”
She recoiled at that and stepped backward into the elevator. “You’re a dick. Lose my number.”
I didn’t respond to her as the elevator doors closed but made sure to alert one of my staff members to meet her on the bottom floor and make sure she got out without causing a ruckus. Once she was off, I walked to the stairwell to go up and into my office. Milli was supposed to be meeting me there to let me know exactly how well my plan had worked.
Just before entering the stairwell, I noticed one of Avion’s pencil parks pointing in the opposite direction of the door. Poor girl, she’d been so close. I don’t know that I would ever have the heart to tell her how close she’d come to finding the way out. Not that she would have actually successfully escaped, but she would have felt a little more accomplished if only she’d taken a right instead of a left.
It had been nice to relieve a little bit of stress with Emily given the circumstances, but I had my crosshairs set on Avion. That look in her eyes when our gazes locked was full of all the arousal and intrigue that I wanted from her. She was afraid, certainly, but behind that fear was a curiosity that I planned to use to exploit both of our wildest fantasies. The only thing left to do was wait for her to take the bait. The second it seemed like she was inviting me in, I’d give her a taste of my world, and then she’d be way too far gone to back out.
“Ten steps ahead,” Milli said, shaking his head as I approached my office door.
I smiled. “Does that mean my plan went well then?”
I unlocked the door to my office and led the way in. “Exactly as you said she would, she asked why you hadn’t been to see her in a couple of weeks and even mentioned that she thought she was doing what you wanted. She admitted that she likes when you seem pleased.”
My entire body was covered with goosebumps as Milli explained it. “Excellent. And afterward.”
“Terrified of course,” he said, “but the interest was there.”
“Obviously, I knew it would be.” I sank down into my office chair. “People do one of two things with things they don’t understand, they run from it, or they face it and learn more. Avion’s not a run from it kind of woman as we both know. She’ll open up to me soon enough.”
“I’ll admit, I did not think it was going to work as well as it ended up working,” Milli said. “You predicted everything would happen exactly as it would.”
“A man who doesn’t know his adversary is ill-prepared for battle,” I replied.
Milli sat down in one of the chairs opposite my desk and crossed his hand. “I hate those stupid phrases you use, even more so when they turn out to be correct.”
I side-glanced my computer, desperate to open it and see Avion’s reaction to what she experienced for myself, but I knew I had a few things left to discuss with Milli first. “Never mind that for now, did you follow up on those couple of things we talked about?”
“Yes.” Milli was holding a couple of files in his hands and handed one over to me. “This is all of the information about Lorie Erickson. Her father is, in fact, Police Chief Erickson. It seems that Avion and Lorie probably met due to their fathers’ friendship, as Governor Narzand has pushed a lot of money in Chief Erickson’s direction and vice versa.”
