Chapter Twenty: Marianna
Inever imagined that things would’ve turned out this way, that in the midst of all my trouble, I would feel so wonderful and so terrible all at the same time. I still had so many unanswered questions, so many worries flitting around inside my mind, like the sheer fact that Rurik helped me out of there, burning the place to the ground, not even sure if Luka had been inside. I silently hoped that he would, that this would’ve been the end of our troubles, but I knew better than to think like that. I’d been around Rurik long enough to understand the stakes that came with living a life quite like this one, but even after everything I’d been through I couldn’t imagine living it without him. He rescued me, he thought about me, and he didn’t care who he had to abandon to do that. I know that he wanted revenge, that he wanted to save each and every person that had helped him, giving them the satisfaction of knowing the man that hurt them all was finally dead, but he chose me instead.
I was eternally grateful to him, knowing that no one has ever loved me the way he does, and to feel his arms wrap around me now, it was like I finally did get my happy ending. We were finally allowed to enjoy the time we could spend together, unsure of when we were next going to be involved in the kind of trouble that would consume our lives all over again, but I just wanted to enjoy the time I had with him now. He’d changed me, he’d made me a better woman, and he promised to love me unconditionally, and never let me go again. That was all I’d ever wanted, was to be accepted, was to be loved, and I finally had that chance. I wanted to stay by his side, fight alongside him with whatever threat came our way, and I intended to do just that.
It felt so incredible to feel his warmth, to feel the way his hands traveled down my skin again, reminding me that we truly did have the kind of connection that most people would kill for. I turned to him in bed that morning, running my fingertips along the curve of his lips as he smiled at me, leaning in for a kiss, while I kissed him back hard, wanting to feel every inch of him again. I was just starting to feel better, and it’d only been a few days since everything happened, but I was finally well enough to see what I wanted out of the rest of my life, and that was Rurik. I wanted him to take me on a ride, show me the world from his perspective, because there truly was no place else I’d rather be.
“What’s on your mind, beautiful?” he asked, leaning in to kiss me again.
“You.”
“Yeah?” he asked, climbing on top of me, while his kisses trailed down my body, lifting up my t-shirt, making it to my bare breasts while he teased my nipples with his tongue. I felt the need for him to creep back in, urging him to take me right then, because I’d truly waited long enough. It had been on my mind for the last few days, while I’d been cooped up in bed at his brother’s home trying to recuperate, and I knew it was finally time I gave in again. He looked up at me, and I bit my lip playfully while he read the signals perfectly, running his fingers down my body, stopping right where my inner thighs met. He slipped out of his boxers, teasing the opening of my pussy with his dick, and he slid inside of me, while he held my gaze, taking in everything every single reaction. He felt incredible, as he thrust his dick deep inside of me, leaning over my ear, while he whispered the one thing that I needed to hear, the one thing that made all of the trouble we’d been through together absolutely worth it.
“I love you, Marianna.”
“I love you too, Rurik,” I said, my breath catching in my throat as he drove his dick deep inside of me, picking up the pace while my fingernails dug into his back. It was the perfect start to the day, one that we were finally going to get to enjoy together just like the old times, the times when being together was the only thing that felt right. I felt his balls slap up against my ass while he rammed me hard, shaking the bed frame, while he reached up to support himself, holding onto it while his dick slid in and out of my wet pussy until I felt the orgasm erupt through me. It was blissful, perfect, and everything I remembered from the first time that we enjoyed every inch of each other, and it wasn’t something I was ever going to forget.
He glanced down at me, knowing that I wanted more, and I could already feel my legs begin to shake. I wanted him deep inside me, to feel every inch of his skin on mine. He towered over me, slipping his dick back inside, just as my sensitive pussy had been waiting for him. He started slow yet again, but it wasn’t long before he was ramming his dick deep inside of me, and I couldn’t muffle my screams any longer. I gripped his shoulders for support, feeling my wetness escape down my legs, taking one look at him before my eyes rolled to the back of my head. I glanced up again, just as his fingers found my clit, rubbing on it lightly as my body quivered underneath him. The pleasure erupted through me like it had done so many times before, leaving me trying to catch my breath. I felt his body tense, his muscles hardening as he thrusted harder, and I bit my lip looking up at him just as he came.
He collapsed back down onto the bed, and I leaned over to kiss him, knowing that the minute we headed back out to meet everyone, we were going to have to get back to reality, but I just wished I could’ve stayed right there a little longer, allowing him to make me feel all kinds of pleasure all over again. We both knew that the only way we were going to make this time last would be to learn the truth about what happened after we left the mansion that night, because we weren’t going to be able to rest easy knowing that there was still the possibility that Luka was roaming around trying to get his bearings again. He didn’t have much of anything left to offer if he was still alive, and I wouldn’t have been surprised if he did try to rebuild, to gather enough cavalry to fight back again, but I knew that it wasn’t likely.
Everything he ever loved burned to the ground that night, and the man I love chose to rescue me over the revenge he had been planning for years, and I never knew what it felt like to experience that kind of love until Rurik walked right into my life. The day was going to go on, and we were now going to find out the truth, which would mean we’d either have to keep searching for the man that nearly destroyed us, or we could finally rest easy knowing that he was gone for good. I wasn’t sure which I would’ve felt better knowing, because there was still the part of me that wanted to give Rurik that opportunity to do to him what he’d done to so many others, stripping them of their lives only to dictate the way they lived out the rest of their days. Rurik had always spoken of the day that he would get the chance to make Luka pay for the pain he put him through, but it was evident that he may never get the chance to do that.
I truly wondered what kind of toll it would take on him to feel like there was unfinished business, like he wouldn’t truly be able to move on knowing that Luka didn’t suffer too long for all the chaos he’d caused, and all of the lives he’d ruined. I was quite lost in thought for a while before I heard a knock at the door, and the voice behind it was as familiar as ever.
“Yes?”
“I need you two to get down here immediately. We’ve just received some quite disturbing news,” said Viktor, leaving us be while we got ready to head down to the living room to see what he had to say.
“Back to reality then?”
“Remember, we’re in this together, and don’t you forget it,” I said, while he leaned in to plant a soft kiss on my forehead, and just like that my worries started to melt away for a little while.
“What’s the big emergency?”asked Rurik, the minute we joined everyone else in the living room.
“It seems that our little problem managed to escape after all. He rescued Anton, and he fled to the docks where his yacht was at. We’d been tipped off by a man that also escaped that night, one that was supposedly working for the Andreyevs, but he decided to come clean about where Luka was hiding out. See for yourself,” said Viktor, handing Rurik the note and I watched him read it.
“Vanya,” he said, shocked as though he couldn’t believe that he’d managed to get out after all.
“He kept his promise,” I chimed in.
“And what promise was that?” asked Rurik.
“We agreed to fight our way out, and to help each other. I never thought that he would go to such lengths to reach out now, but I suppose he is truly indebted to you, Rurik. You showed him kindness when no else did,” I said, remembering the details of Vanya’s story, and how all he ever wanted was his life back.
“I’ll have to find him, thank him properly for this, but right now we have unfinished business to attend to.”
“Do you need assistance, brother?” asked Viktor, as though he was already ready to go, and I watched Rurik smile, knowing that it must’ve felt wonderful to have his family back, to reunite with those he thought he lost, especially after Kir’s death. I was glad that he had someone to turn to, someone that understood the way this world worked, because even though I promised to be there for him no matter what, there was still so much about this lifestyle that I didn’t quite understand. Though, I knew that I would learn with time because I had an excellent teacher.
“No, I think Marianna and I can handle this one on our own,” said Rurik, and I nodded at them both, letting them know that I was ready.
“Let’s finish this.”
When we arrivedat the docks, the air above had been cool by the water, while Rurik and I made our way through the array of private yachts looking for the one that belonged to Luka. He was scrambling to keep things afloat because his world came crashing down around him, everything he ever loved burned to the ground the night of the attack, and he was probably fumbling around trying to find a way to get his revenge. A man like that could only operate on the idea of revenge, because anything else would simply be unfitting for such a situation, but enough time had passed, and even though Luka’s suffering would never be enough to match those that he’d hurt, it was time he said goodbye to the world of crime as he knew it, uttering his last words. Rurik pointed out which of the yachts had belonged to Luka, and we climbed onto it quietly, making sure not to disturb them before we were ready.
Rurik cocked his gun back, and I did the same to mine, while we made it to the top to see that both Luka and Anton were tied up, the ropes that bound them soaked in blood, and we were both incredibly confused at how this could’ve happened.
“Well, isn’t this a surprise,” said Rurik, glancing up to see someone approach us from inside the holding area.
