“That shit ain’t for everybody,” Heavy countered.

“So, you telling me you don’t see shit happening with you and G?” Crew questioned, looking Heavy dead in his face. “You ain’t thought about that one time since she’s been back?”

“We supposed to just jump into some shit because we got kids?”

“Why not?” Crew shrugged. “You can’t say you ain’t feeling her because I see how you look at her and talk to her. Even after she kept those kids from you, you can’t hate her.”

“One thing ain’t got nothing to do with the other, Crew,” Heavy argued.

“Shut up. That shit don’t even make sense.” Crew tossed his hand in his direction and brushed him off.

“Meanwhile, there go Pri and your sister.” Solo nodded outside their VIP section as Viggo came strutting through the doors.

This nigga was on his biker shit in jeans, a white t-shirt, and black leather vest. His diamond chain hung to the center of his chest, and he clapped his diamond clustered hands together as he entered.

“The life of the muhfucking party is here! Let’s go!”

Outside the VIP suite, Pri spotted Heavy with the boys but remained standing near the dance floor with Henna instead. The two of them grabbed martinis at the door, but she got the feeling she was going to need much more tonight, dealing with this shit.

“Hen, I’m giving you two hours, and I’m out.”

“Whatever,” Henna snapped and popped her ass to the beat. “Let’s dance. Forget about my brother, okay. That’s his fucking loss. Let me tell you something, men are possessive if nothing else.” Henna held up a finger to emphasize her point. “The minute he sees you smiling with another nigga, he will come around. So, it didn’t work out right now. That doesn’t mean anything.”

“I can’t keep sitting around, hoping and praying for him to realize what’s right in front of him.”

“That’s exactly what the fuck I’m saying, Pri. Look around! Pick a nigga!” Henna’s eyes landed on Oz at the bar, chatting with some curly red-haired chick. “Except that one. Mmm. Damn, Oz is fine as hell.”

“He’s also in business with your brother,” Pri reminded her as she slowly sipped her drink. “I also heard he got a shit load of kids with a mama to match. You trying to join the sisterhood, you go right ahead.”

“What that got to do with me?” Henna whipped her head in her direction and turned her nose up. “Heavy don’t listen to me about shit, so why I gotta follow his rules? And how you know a bitch ain’t just trying to get her back cracked? I don’t want to marry that nigga.”

Henna loved her brother, but he could be a bit much. He held grudges like nobody, too, which is why it was surprising he letGiselle off so easy on keeping his kids from him. In all honesty, Henna was trying to steer Pri away because she knew he would never be what she truly wanted. What she felt for him, he harbored for someone else. It was obvious years ago at the block party that Giselle had somehow captured her brother’s bruised and battered heart without either of their knowledge.

She even envied the way he looked at her, like she was the light in his whole world. She’d never had a man captivated by her like that, to the point where outsiders felt like they were invading some shit when those two were in each other’s realm. Giselle tried to hide it, but today at the park, Henna saw it all over her face. When Heavy interacted with the twins, that girl had a twinkle in her eyes like stars were falling. It was the same watching him when they loved on her. What started as a one night stand had created something bigger than either of them had fathomed.

“Let’s get another drink.” Prischa tipped the remaining liquor in her glass to her mouth and swallowed.

TWELVE

SHOT CLOCK

Within a few hours, Frenzy had been turned out! The infused drinks had everyone relaxed, laughing, and tossing back more alcohol. Weed smoke clouded the air, and the DJ was on fire. He spun and mixed recent hits with old school jams, and the club went crazy with the different mashups. Gem and Lou danced on the couch together with Solo and Oz sitting back, enjoying the view as their thighs rubbed together and they twirled in a circle, throwing that ass behind them. Crew and Heavy held up a table near the bar with elevated chairs covered in drinks while they passed a blunt back and forth. Maisie and Giselle fell over laughing together, damn near in tears as they came from Maisie’s private bathroom upstairs.

“Damn, Maisie, I thought we were better than that,” Henna voiced from a table just outside the VIP suite where she and Prishca posted up.

Maisie and Giselle were coming from the ladies’ room together, damn near in tears they were falling over laughing so hard.

“Hey, Henna, what you talking about?” Maisie cleared her throat and Prischa skimmed Giselle in her dress.

She’d seen how Heavy couldn’t take his eyes off her all night. Amid a crowded room with Crew, Oz, and Solo acting childish around him, he sat back, observing, never taking his attention from her too long.

“Are we not welcome in your section? We been sitting here all night.”

“Well, you’ve never had to ask before. Of course you can join us.”

“I wasn’t so sure, given current company,” she slurred and tipped her shot gloss to her glossy lips.

“Meaning me?” Giselle pointed to herself, clearly inebriated and ready for the smoke.
