Once I was out, I paused, listening carefully to see if I could hear any voices in the living room. The only sound I picked up on was the princess show’s end music, signaling a new episode would be starting momentarily.

I dried off in a hurry, and just as I wrapped the towel over my shoulders to catch the water dripping from my hair, the doorknob from the hallway door rattled. The door swung open a fraction of a second later, before I could process what was happening.

“See? No—oh, shit.” Colin’s voice was abruptly echoing off the tile in the bathroom. “I’msosorry.”

“Hi, Daddy!” Caroline’s little voice said joyfully, obliviously.

I spun, turning my back to the door and my hands going to cover my groin. “Just a sec!” I said, panic in my voice. The door shut firmly behind me a moment later, and I hurried into my bedroom.

From the hallway, Colin called out again, a muffled sound. “Sorry!”

“It’s fine! I’m out now,” I called back. I locked the door to the bathroom just in case. My heart was racing in my chest, pounding hard as if I’d been running, adrenaline coursing through me. I wrapped the towel firmly around my waist andlocked the main door to my bedroom for good measure, before I sat down on the edge of my bed and caught my breath.

Colin had seen me—naked. Completely, utterly naked, except for a towel on my shoulders. How much did he see?I couldn’t help but wonder. And then, another thought popped into my mind.Did he like what he’d seen?

I shook my head.No. Neighbors. It doesn’t matter if he liked it. I mean… unless he did… and then maybe—no.

My thoughts swirled, jumbled and confused, torn between a wishful lust and practicality.

In a hurry, I dressed in clean clothes. As I pulled on a T-shirt, the toilet flushed in the bathroom next door.

“I’m done now, Mr. Colin!” The next thing I heard was the hallway door to the bathroom opening again, and Caroline speaking again. “And now I have to wash my hands,” she said, cheerfully.

“Yes you do,” Colin agreed. “We always wash our hands after going potty.”

“Right!” she agreed.

I stopped listening then and finished dressing before scrubbing my hair dry with the towel. With my fingers, I tried to arrange my hair in a way that looked less “just woke up” and more “I look like this on purpose.” Then I took a deep breath and opened my bedroom door to face Colin once again.

Chapter 6

Colin

I’dseenDakotanaked.I’d seeneverything. His tight abs and muscular arms and firm thighs. And his thick cock.

When I’d arrived, Caroline had talked my ear off about the show she was watching and then started doing what all little kids did when they needed the bathroom—the potty dance. Of course, I’d encouraged her to go, and she’d asked me to make sure there weren’t fire-breathing dragons in the bathroom first. I blamed her princess cartoon. Naturally, I’d followed her to the bathroom, fully prepared to check for dragons.

That’s when I’d walked in on Dakota, freshly showered and looking… I didn’t even know how to describe it other thanfucking hot. Skin damp, water dripping from his dark hair, a fluffy white towel around his shoulders, his face still scruffy with a five-o’clock shadow. It made me feelthings. Things I’d already started to feel about him. They’d… amplified.

While I waited in the living room, sitting on the couch and talking to Lina, my knee bounced rapidly and my mind raced. Was he going to be mad? It was a total accident. I hoped he’dunderstand that, and know that I wasn’t some kind of creep that burst in on neighbors’ showers just to peek at their bodies.

Fuck.I’d really blown it. It hadn’t evenoccurredto me that he’d be in the shower.

I shook my head. It didn’t matter. Worrying wouldn’t do me any good. The consequences were going to happen either way, and I—

Dakota stepped into the living room then. “Hi there.” He gave me a little wave, a shy smile on his face.

I practically jumped to my feet. “I amsosorry,” I repeated. “I didn’t mean—”

He shook his head and held up a hand. “It’s fine. It’s a small house. One bathroom. I was bound to get walked in on at some point, right?”

“I was taking Caroline to the potty. She asked me to check for dragons,” I explained.

His small smile wavered, his brow dipping into a frown. “Lina?”

She looked up from the TV. “Yeah?”

“I thought we were over the dragon thing.”
