“I actually still have a lot of things to do before I go over there,” I tell him. “I still need to shower and do makeup. And make sure Dad knows where to go tonight. Tina acted really excited this morning. I’ll be there in an hour or so.”

“Sweet. We have to do my makeup,” he replies. “You have to make me look scarier than him,” he says with a nod to Maddox.

I smirk. “I’ll do my best.”

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - ANDI

I’M STILL HARD from the sight of you on your hands and knees, Maddox texts me as I’m driving on the way to the venue.Think you can do that for me later?

Keep that outfit on, and I’ll lick your fucking boots.

I honestly don’t know if I’m exaggerating.

Cynda texted me just after Maddox and Reed left. Legal was able to pull all of the comments down about Maddox overnight. They served Adam a cease and desist order that very morning, stating that while he had every legal right to post about Maddox’s father, the slander against Maddox himself was grounds for a lawsuit because it put him in danger.

I hope Erin, our relations manager, is there telling Maddox the good news.

I pull into the venue parking lot a few minutes later and park around back, where James had instructed me to park the day before. There’s a small protest happening outside the front of the building that immediately makes me nauseous. I don’t bother going near it to see what it’s about because I know it’s probably a group of fanatics against not only Young Decay, but also Halloween in general.

James is standing at the emergency exit door when I make it across the lot.

“Hi, James,” I say to him.

James nods and clears his throat, causing me to pause at his side.

“Parents here tonight?” he says as if the question is enough.

I frown. “They are.”

He stares pointedly at me, and I realize why he’s being grumpy.

The memory of Maddox fucking me against the wall the night before enters my mind.

“Oh.Oh. Um. Did you tell him?” I ask, referring to Maddox.

James smirks. “I tried.”

A laugh escapes me. “I’ll mention it again. Did Erin show up?”

“She just left,” James replies.

I blow out an audible breath, and James’s smile lifts to his dark eyes.

“Big weight off,” he says.

“Let’s hope Adam isn’t stupid enough to do it anyway,” I say as I cross my fingers.

James chuckles. “Don’t tell your brother that. He had Avie bring energy drinks into the dressing room for him to shake up and fizz in celebration.”

“Oh god,” I mutter before pushing past him toward the dressing room.

The band is in a frenzy.

When I open the door, I’m immediately splattered with fizz from the drink Reed has just popped open. I gasp and halt in my tracks, throwing my hands over my face in the hopes that none of it gets on my Halloween makeup.

“Reed!”

“Oh shit—sorry, sis!” Reed grabs a towel and tries to help me blot the liquid off my dress. “Did you hear?”
