“You would sing my name to the stars,” I said upon gripping the top of her ass. “That ride wouldn’t be the only place you would come for me, though.”
“No?”
I shook my head, massaging her ass. Fuck, she was soft. “I’d take you in the shadows between the performer trailers—with my hand over your mouth because the sound of that fucking moan would make people come running. And after I’m done, when your back is raw, and your legs shake, you’ll walk around bare… with my cum dripping down your beautiful thighs.” Our noses brushed as her hands pressed to my chest, her nails scratching my skin enough to send a chill down my spine.
“I have one condition,” she said.
“Anything.”
“We get cotton candy before we leave.”
I chuckled, swaying with her slightly. “As long as I get to eat it off you when we get home.”
Her soft laugh met mine, and I swore a faint blush rose on her cheeks as she stared at her hands for a moment. Tension settled between us—one that made me squeeze her tighter against me. I saw her swallow, and my brows knitted at seeing the nervousness on her face.
“Do you know what I think?” she asked, lashes hitting her eyelids as she lifted her gaze to mine.
I didn’t respond immediately. The look in her eyes had me concerned for whatever it was she was about to say.
“What?” I asked.
“I think…” Her eyes darted away, and for a brief second, she stared outside at the snow coming down. “I think I could see myself getting lost again just to have you,” she whispered as her eyes met mine once more. “And that scares the shit out of me.”
Genuine fear lined her breathless voice, and I leaned forward to rest my forehead on hers.
“I’ll find you,” I whispered.
Her hands pushed up to my neck, fingers brushing my scruff. “Promise?”
“When you’re ready.”
Her lips met mine then, and for the briefest of moments, I was there at that carnival. I was standing beneath the night sky with her. I could hear the noise of laughter and screams from the amusement rides. Fog hit my cheeks; a wind circled us. The smells of fresh, damp dirt and pine entered my nose. The taste of cider on her tongue only furthered the vision. It was as vivid as a memory, not a fantasy. So much so that when she pulled back, and I remembered we were just in her apartment, the reality jolted me, my heart skipping.
“What time is your flight tomorrow?” she asked.
I inhaled a deep breath, blinking back at her. “Nine twenty-two,” I answered.
“That’s very specific,” she laughed.
“You asked.”
She hugged me a little tighter yet lifted her chin up to see my face. “You’ll be gone before sunrise, then,” she realized. “You’d better hope this snow cream firms up. You have to taste this before you go.”
I chuckled and leaned down to kiss her nose. “I will, baby.”
Every time she kissed me, I spiraled further for her, forgetting reality. I grabbed her up behind her thighs and placed her on the counter where I’d just been leaning. Her soft laugh filled my ears as she leaned back, and I started rubbing her thighs.
“What’s waiting for you in California?” she asked.
“Top floor condo… the beach… work…”
“Sounds terrible,” she mocked.
“The worst.”
Chloe reached for my hands. “Do you think we could extend tonight a little longer?” she asked. “You say you’re a god. Is there anyone you can call up and ask to stop the sun from rising as quickly as it will?”
I scoffed, thinking of the god I would have to call to make that deal, and I shook my head. “Afraid not.”
