When Alexi got closer, I grabbed his hand. When his parents were out of sight, I pushed him against the door and kissed him.
“Number one, baby. The hallway is done.” I winked, and he flushed a deep pink.
“I hate you.”
“You’re going to have to learn to not blush every time I kiss you, Lexi.”
He pushed me away, but his eyes were dark with lust, and the way he licked his lips told me he wanted more.
I planned on doing just that.
We went to the living room, where everyone was gathered.
“Everything okay, Alexi?” Kris asked.
Alexi went an even deeper red. “Yes, of course. I…um…almost dropped my gift on the floor.”
“You should have seen him trying to stop it. It was like watching a baby seal holding a tray with drinks,” I said. He mutteredjackassunder his breath, and I laughed.
More guests arrived over the next hour, and as I’d expected, with more kids in the house, the party was semi-controlled chaos.
I was surprised to see Sergei and Rory had made it from Lydovia too. They must have flown in late last night.
Rory had become close to Tom just before the wedding, and it was throughout the wedding events that he and Sergei got together.
Our family and close friends were a mash of ex-boyfriends, childhood friends-turned-lovers, biological family, best friends, and everything else in between.
That was why I’d stayed away from Alexi for so long. It almost felt wrong to have the feelings I had for him, but seeing the happy couples around us put everything into perspective.
Rory had been Charlie’s ex, and Sergei was Kris’s ex. None of that seemed to matter. The couples were as close as friends could be.
I noticed Alexi grab a few empty plates and carry them to the kitchen. My parents had hired an amateur children’s theater company to entertain the kids so everyone was in the same place.
Perfect timing.
“Follow me,” I whispered in Alexi’s ear after he put the plates in the sink.
“Where?”
The laundry room was the furthest we could be from the living room, so there was no danger of anyone overhearing us.
As soon as we were inside, I closed and locked the door.
“What are we doing here, Troy?” Alexi said as the corners of his lips quirked into a light smile. He took a couple of steps back as I took two forward.
“I think you know.”
He took two more steps backward. “I’m not sure I do.”
The two steps I took to close our distance put his back against the wall with me towering over him.
“I’m keeping my promise.” I kissed him, keeping him in place with one hand while the other reached for the button of his jeans.
“What are you?—”
“I’m going to need you to be real quiet, Lexi. Can you do that for me?”
He swallowed and nodded. His eyes were dark and his skin was flushed.
