“What was your plan for bringing him here this weekend?” Adam asked.

“I was going to introduce him as my boyfriend. I honestly didn’t mean to upstage you and Victoria.”

“Then why did you tell that girl he’s your husband?”

My cheeks heated. “Because he is, and… even though I wasn’t ready to tell you all, I didn’t want to lie.”

“Not if you could help it, right?”

I stood. “We can go around in circles. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m married. Or that my husband is probably worried sick in our room, wondering if I’m okay or if we’ve beaten each other to a pulp. It’s not going to change the fact I lied. You can believe me when I say I regret everything but marrying him. Or you can choose to not believe me.”

Adam narrowed the space between us in just a few steps, with River hanging right behind like he’d stop him from punching me if he tried.

“I don’t know how I feel about this,” he said. “I’m hurt, and I don’t know what’s worse. That my own brother kept something so huge from me or that the truth has come out this weekend, of all times.”

He walked around me. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to check in on my fiancée.” The door closed behind him before I could react.

I released a long breath. My body was shaking, and I needed…Lior.

Lex wrapped his arms around me. “This is a mess, but I’m happy for you, Noah. Adam will come around.”

I nodded.

“I should go back to Lior. If you see Mom and Dad, tell them I’ll speak to them later. I can’t…right now.”

Lior

Itried everything I could to stop myself from going to the reception desk and asking for the room numbers of Noah’s brothers.

Every little sound from the hallway caught my attention, from people walking past to the ding of the elevator.

I would have unpacked our bags, but from the tension earlier, I couldn’t be entirely sure Noah wouldn’t want to leave after speaking to his family.

Part of me understood exactly why they were upset. I’d never downplay Noah’s feelings, but his family was angry because they cared. They loved him and, quite rightly, were shocked that he would get married in secret to someone they’d never met.

But I’d also gotten to know Noah really well in the last few months. Family was everything to him, and he struggled with not telling his family the truth for fear of how they might react.

After waiting for fifteen minutes, which felt like an hour, I ordered a selection of breakfast food up to the room.

Even if Noah wasn’t hungry because of the high emotions, he would be at some point. The hotel was accommodating when I asked that the coffee come in a thermos so it was warm when Noah got to the room.

Breakfast came with no sign of Noah.

Finally, the click of the key card sounded at the door.

I rushed to my feet as Noah barreled into the room and jumped into my arms, wrapping his legs around my waist.

The door closed behind him with a bang as his mouth sought mine, locking our lips in a brutal kiss. There was no exploration, no tasting. This was raw and desperate.

His teeth grazed my lips until he trapped them between his and sucked hard, leaving my mouth burning with fire.

When he pulled away, we were both panting.

“I don’t wanna talk. Not yet. I just need you, Lior. I need you so much. Please.”

I set him on his feet and cradled his face between my hands. His eyes were wild, fire burning within his gaze.

I’d never seen him like this before.
