Noah

You know why.

Jax

Just tell them already. What’s the worst that could happen?

Noah

I don’t know. I could be disowned by my family and end up alone after Lior divorces me?

Jax

Trouble in paradise already?

Noah

Ha.

Jax

Dude, if there’s one thing you don’t need to worry about, it’s Lior divorcing you.

I didn’t want to think why Jax believed that. The terms of our marriage were clear. Marry. Help the kids. Help him keep the company. Stay married. Divorce.

Noah

Unless you know something I don’t know, the plan hasn’t changed.

Jax

All I’m saying is, if you want to stay married to Lior, you just need to show him how good it can be to remain married. Starting a shift now. Over and out.

I stared at my phone, unable to move. And not just because Lior insisting on us working out together every morning before breakfast was killing my poor body.

The more time we spent together, the more I fell for him, but despite the way he teased me, he hadn’t given any indication that he felt the same way. Not beyond struggling to fight his attraction to me.

We flirted with each other all the time, and I was going through lube like it was going out of fashion and risking arepetitive strain injury, from jacking off daily to thoughts of Lior. But there was nothing else between us.

I’d even stopped asking for sex because he hadn’t given in once since our wedding day. My confidence was taking a hit.

I finished my coffee.

Could Jax be right? Would I give up this easily, or could I do as he suggested and show Lior how great we could be together for real?

I walked to my brother’s office. He was pacing the small room, talking to his phone like he always did when brainstorming copyedit ideas for campaigns.

He stopped the recording when I knocked.

“Can I bring a plus one?” I asked.

“What?”

“This weekend. Can I bring someone?”

He leaned against his desk. “Is that why you’ve been AWOL? You’re seeing someone?”

“Maybe.”
