“He’s just someone. Trust me, he doesn’t matter.”
I wrapped my arm around his to get closer, happy when he didn’t shrug me off. “He’s an ex, isn’t he?” I gasped. “He still wants you, but you don’t want him. Oh man, we could make him so jealous. There’s still one day left in the conference.”
He snorted. “Jealousy is beneath him. I’m not even sure he’s competitive. He’s just…never mind. I don’t like talking about people behind their backs.”
“Not even about how uptight he is? He oozes uptight asshole energy, one hundred percent..”
He laughed. “Not even to talk about how uptight he is.”
I knew it.
Okay, so Pierce was an ex. If I was to put my money on it, I’d say he cheated. He seemed the type of arrogant who’d cheat even when he had someone like Lior in his bed.
Why were people never happy with what they got?
“We should go there.” I pointed excitedly at the bar with the big Karaoke sign above the front door.
“No.”
“Oh, come on, Lioreo. I promise I won’t make you sing. Look, they have wings.”
He gave me an exasperated but amused look as he reluctantly followed me to the bar. I could work with that.
“For the record, that nickname is ridiculous.”
“I think it’s perfect because they’re my favorite cookies, and just like with them, I could lick your cream all night long.”
“Noah. For the love of—” He shook his head.
“I think I figured out why I have this tiny filter problem around you.”
“This should be good.” He gestured for me to continue as we found a free table in the packed bar. It was a Saturday night, after all.
“I have blue balls.”
He coughed. “Thanks for the information.”
“And it’s your fault. You left me wanting more, and no one else will do it for me now.”
He raised a brow. I called the server and ordered two portions of wings and a pitcher of beer.
“You can be very bossy considering…” he said, his dark eyes spelling out exactly what he wasn’t saying.Considering how easily I’d submitted to him.
“I know what I like, and I like what I know. Back to my balls. They’re blue.” I pouted.
“We had a deal.”
“We still do, but we faced Pickle Pierce together. We’re best buddies now, which means you get the honor of knowing these things.”
“My dreams have finally come true,” he deadpanned.
We practically inhaled the wings and destroyed a couple of beers in no time.
“These were amazing,” I said, wiping the sauce from my hands.
“As good as the food at the hotel is, nothing beats dive bar food.”
“I never pegged you for a beer and wings guy. You’re always so composed, stiff.”
