“When did you do this?” I ask because there's no way she had time during the class.
The ladybug is the centerpiece of the painting, but right alongside it, there are two male figures holding hands with a little girl.
“I did it during the week. It's you, Daddybug, and me. Do you like it?”
“Oh, sweetie, I love it. Has Daddy seen it?” I ask.
She nods. “We can hang it on the wall in the new house, so everyone knows who lives there.”
I kiss her hair and hold her tight. “That's an excellent idea.”
“I think so too,” she says with her smarter-than-her-age expression. “I'll clean my brushes now.”
“Make sure you clean your hands thoroughly, okay?”
She nods and goes off to join George by the sink.
I take the opportunity to corner Fletcher and sit on the couch in front of him.
“So…”
He raises a brow. “So…?”
I wave my hand in his direction. “What's this all about?”
“Don't know what you mean,” he says with a smile that tells me he knows exactly what I mean.
“So Harrison looking at your ass like he wants to faceplant into itisn'tthe outcome you were going for when you picked the tightest jeans I've ever seen?”
Fletch's smile does nothing to hide his intentions. “He was staring? Good, that means the stick he has up his ass may not be as big as I thought.”
“How do you even know him?”
George picks that time to come over, so Fletch ruffles his hair and stands up.
“Long story. Tell you another time.”
“Daddy, can Ava come with us to get pizza?”
Fletch looks at me, and I nod.
“Sure, buddy.”
When they leave, I send Levi a message to meet me at the house. I can come in early on Monday to tidy up the room, but now we have a few hours to ourselves, which presents an unmissable double opportunity.
He's already there when I reverse into the driveway, so I grab the bag I picked up on my way and head inside.
When the house became available to rent, Levi inquired immediately because it's so close to Ava's school and only a couple of blocks from my place. The only problem was that it was a little over Levi's budget.
I wanted to ask if he wanted to move in together, but I wasn't sure if it was too early. Liv, in her all-knowing big-sister style, suggested we rent the place together.
There's no way I'll ever let Levi go. He and Ava are my forever people. But we talked it through, and on the remote chance things might not work out, I am still keeping Fletch's studio to work in and Levi can always move back in with Liv.
To say that neither of us believes that would ever happen is an understatement.
“Honey, I'm home,” I call out. There's no reply, so I go into the kitchen, put the cake box from Bittersweet on the table, and go upstairs.
Maybe he's assembling furniture in Ava's room. Since neither of us had much stuff, we decided to furnish the house with the basics before we moved in.
